Donald Trump is holding out for a "bigger, better" version of the Ukraine minerals deal after Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv was ready to sign the proposal. It is absolutely disgusting tactics by America. They are basically putting the Ukrainians in an impossible situation. I hope history doesn't forget this despicable act for a long time. Zelensky has finally replied on Twitter/X - hopefully he has taken some advice from European leaders too.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said his disastrous meeting with Donald Trump last week "did not go the way it was supposed to" and "it is regrettable that it happened this way".
He added: "It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive."
Days after the volatile meeting in the Oval Office, the US president ordered a pause in military support to Ukraine.
In a lengthy post on X the Ukrainian president said he would like to "reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace" and said Kyiv is "ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible".

Here is Zelenskyy's post in full:
Donald Trump is not planning to sign a minerals deal between the US and Ukraine tonight. Earlier reports indicated that Trump was planning to conclude the controversial "rare earths" deal this evening and announce it in his joint address to Congress.
However, Mr Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, told Fox News there was "no signing planned".
White House insiders said there had not been any movement on the proposal, which would grant the US half of Ukraine's revenues from its critical minerals as payback for military support.
I hope the rest of the world tell them to get to f*ck.
