Just after the graphic coming up showing 18 shots to 0 to Denmark, Finland score. Typical.

Schmeichel poor there.

That was a soft penalty award for Denmark but a terrible penalty by Hojbjerg. Finland still lead!

I don't think Finland deserved the win. A draw would have been fair.

2-0 Belgium. Poor keeping.

Same old Russia.... qualify handily for tournaments, then look like a pub team when they get there.

Russia look terrible from what I've seen of the first half.

Gareth Southgate includes Kieran Trippier, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Mason Mount in his starting XI as England get under way against Croatia at Euro 2020.

That means there’s no place for Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and Luke Shaw, while Tyrone Mings and John Stones start in central defence.

Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic all feature as Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic names six of the side that started the 2018 World Cup final in Russia.

England team: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Mings, Trippier; Phillips, Rice; Sterling, Mount, Foden; Kane.

Croatia team: Livakovic; Vrsaljko, Caleta-Car, Vida, Gvardiol; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Perisic, Rebic, Kramaric.

I'd expect Scotland to beat the Czechs and I don't think Croatia have shown anything that should scare us (or the Czechs for that matter)

England deserved winners. This Croatia team are a pale shadow of the 2018 World Cup team.

England were ok, solid but limited. Croatia were awful, can't see them getting out of the group

Austria have scored against North Macedonia. Nice goal.

Some hefty challenges going in so far, this could turn nasty before the end.

Bandit
Bandit commented
That is their first ever goal in a major tournament. Scored by a 37 year old. Pandev has been a great player in Italy over the years.

Gromit

There's gonna a be a red in this game I'd say, it's feisty and the North Macedonians in particular are really putting themselves about.

Macedonia put so much into the first half, then ran out of steam badly towards the end there.

Teams for the evening game:

Netherlands XI: Stekelenberg; Timber, de Vrij, Blind; Dumfries, de Roon, Wijanldum, de Jong, van Aanholt; Weghorst, Depay.

Ukraine XI: Bushcan; Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Malinovskiy, Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Zubkov.

Excited for this one. Pleased to see Depay and Weghorst start. Both coming off strong seasons. Defence looks questionable, though.

Looking forward to seeing how Ukraine fare. Malinovskiy had a super season with Atalanta. Heard a lot of good things about their striker Yaremchuk too. Zinchenko is usually quite important for them.

I'll go for the Dutch to edge it.

Some comeback by Ukraine. Another great goal.

3-2 to the Dutch. Keeper should have cleared that ball.

Keeper poor twice there. Nightmare 2nd half for him after being so good in the first.

Kieran Tierney missing for Scotland, big loss.

Scotland XI: Marshall; Hanley, Cooper, Hendry; O'Donnell, Armstrong, McGinn, McTominay, Robertson; Dykes, Christie.

Czech Republic XI: Vaclik; Coufal, Celustka, Kalas, Boril; Soucek, Kral; Masopust, Darida, Jankto; Schick.

Hope we get off to a good start. It has been a long time coming but Scotland are finally back on the big stage at a major tournament.

Disappointing from Scotland. This was the game they really had the best chance of winning. They had chances but couldn't find the breakthrough. I'd have preferred Adams over Dykes from the beginning. Some second goal by Schick, yes Marshall was way off his line but it still took some skill to execute that curling lob. Other than Schick's two goals I thought the teams were very evenly matched.

Scotland were such a let down. It is great that they qualified but the nation expected better. Doesn't bode well for Friday :(

Wouldn't be Scotland if they didn't fall flat on their face!

Poland XI: Szczesny; Bereszynski, Glik, Bednarek; Jozwiak, Krychowiak, Linetty, Rybus; Klich, Zielinski; Lewandowski.

Slovakia XI: Dubravka; Pekarik, Satka, Skriniar, Hubocan; Kucka, Hromada; Haraslin, Hamsik, Mak; Duda

Lewandowski up against Skriniar will be a fun contest. I'll go for 1-1.

Good finish from Slovakia. But the defending by Poland was diabolical. 6 players marking nobody.

Poland disappointing, and their next game is against Spain

Again.

Poland always are rubbish when it comes to tournament time.

Lewandowski may as well not have been on today.

Spain are without midfielder Sergio Busquets following his recent positive Covid-19 test. Leeds defender Diego Llorente, who recorded a false positive and has since rejoined the group is on the bench.

Luis Enrique's big call comes in attack, where he has ignored the case of Gerard Moreno, who scored 30 goals for Villarreal last season. Dani Olmo starts.

Sweden may be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic this tournament, but they do still have some serious talent up top in the shape of striker Alexander Isak. Marcus Berg partners him.

Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof starts in a side captained by former Arsenal, Birmingham, Hull and Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson.

Spain: Simon, Marcos Llorente, Laporte, Pau Torres, Jordi Alba, Koke, Rodri, Gonzalez, Ferran Torres, Morata, Olmo.

Sweden: Olsen, Lustig, Danielson, Lindelof, Augustinsson, Sebastian Larsson, Ekdal, Olsson, Forsberg, Berg, Isak.

Weirdly the longer this goes on, the less direct Spain are being. Shades of their performances in Russia creeping in this half.

Welshy
Welshy commented
Been disappointed with Spain. Lots of possession but no cutting edge. Morata should have scored a couple. Moreno should have scored too.

Sweden not offered much but missed a glorious chance too.

Tom
Tom commented
Spain will be kicking themselves. They looked more dangerous with Moreno on. I hope he gets to start the next game. Fair play to Sweden. They dug in and deserved to get something.
