Constantin Film is working on a new Resident Evil film adaptation which will have “faithful ties” to the game franchise. According to Deadline, the Resident Evil film is set to take place in 1998 on a “fateful night” in Raccoon City. The film is being helmed by writer-director Johannes Roberts and some of the main characters have been cast. Per Deadline, Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) will play Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) will star as William Birkin. “With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences,” said Roberts. Franchise producer Robert Kulzer will produce alongside James Harris from Tea Shop Productions and Hartley Gorenstein. “After a dozen games, six live-action movies, and hundreds of pages of fan fiction, we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City,” said Kulzer. Last month, Capcom announced a new CGI show based on the Resident Evil franchise will be streaming on Netflix in 2021. The CGI series will be based on the horror franchise and will follow the adventures of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they explore a big, dark mansion. The live-action series will be made up of eight episodes, each with a one-hour runtime. Supernatural’s Andrew Dabb is the showrunner, and Bronwen Hughes is confirmed as the director for the first two episodes.
Incredible that he managed to have the strength to perform so excellently in all of those pictures while going through what will have been a horrible experience for him and his family. He may have not reached the heights of Hollywood until late into his career but in that short space of time he played characters that will be remembered forever and that's a testament to him as an actor and a person
