Civil War (2024) Movie Thread

I didn't enjoy the over-emphasis on journalists in the first half but did enjoy the latter part including the action and a bit (but not much) context on the actual civil war.

Dunst and Moura were excellent.

I really enjoyed this. There definitely is something weird about seeing war scenes but in a modern America rather than in the Middle East or Africa or wherever. I found the action scenes largely excellent, some very tense moments too.

I also found the end piece quite good. Again, the mismatch between what we're used to seeing from the news versus the likes of the attacking army fighting the secret service and the beast limo was striking.

Jesse Plemons was excellent, but he always is. The set piece with the snipers was great too.

One thing I'd be interested in would be like a companion extra, a fake documentary of how the war started and stuff. We didn't see much/anything as to what caused it, I'd have liked more there.

Really enjoyed it and thought it was extremely well made. The last half an hour was really good even though there's a couple of moments you know are coming.

Glad I watched it because I think it went under the radar slightly, I don't recall seeing a trailer for it.

Fantastic film. Not a single scene is wasted. And the stakes feel very real. The action is brilliantly shot. You feel like it's really happening and that you are really there. Not sure I've ever really had that feeling before in any movie when it comes to action.

I won't say much more, except I really really liked it and will watch again.
