Overview:
Creedence Clearwater Revival is the debut album by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released in 1968.

The reissue liner notes state that while "Susie Q" proved to be a hit, the band had played for years as the Golliwogs in the early 1960s, releasing numerous singles before achieving success in the pop world. While the band did gain success with their chart debut, critics initially denied the band respect. The album was remastered and reissued on 180 Gram Vinyl by Analogue Productions in 2006.

A solid debut album though forgettable overall.

Only 33 minutes long. 9 minutes of wish goes to Suzie Q.

Few covers in there, which was often the way in the 60s. Let the band feel their way in and introduce to the audience with a few songs they know.

"I Put A Spell On You" is the stand-out track, an excellent cover even if not as good as the original (they rarely are).

"Porterville" and "Walk On Water" were written when the band were named The Golliwogs by their label. Bet they were glad they dropped that name, it could have been a career killer for sure.

Lots of blues rock in here as expected, you can pretty much hear the Creedence sound already but it just isn't refined yet, it gets better as they work out what makes a hit and get those catchy licks going.

Clear that John Fogerty stands out as the better vocalist. Has a unique voice and the songs sound better with him singing.

A band I appreciate more the older I get. Foggerty had an immense rock and roll voice.
