I've just read the Veg Out article about veganism and mental health, and honestly, it's raised some thought-provoking points. Do you think being vegan can contribute to depression or anxiety, either nutritionally or emotionally?

It really struck me because while I love being vegan, I've definitely had times where I've felt isolated, especially around friends or family who don't quite understand the choice. I wanted to open this up for discussion - not to question the ethics, but to talk openly about the mental health realities that might come with this lifestyle. Has anyone else struggled in this area?

I'd love to hear personal experiences or thoughts. This topic deserves real, respectful discussion.

I'm not vegan, but nutrition-wise, yes, I can see a link, especially if someone jumps into veganism without research. I've had a B12 deficiency in the past; it is no joke.

I've always admired people who commit to veganism, and Janey has made me some lovely meals. I do wonder - is it ever okay for a vegan to eat a bit of animal product just for their mental health? Say, like eggs or fish oil supplements?

It's a valid question, and one many of us wrestle with. For ethical vegans, eating animal products is more than a diet - it's a moral stand. So even if something might help mentally, compromising on that can cause just as much inner turmoil.
