The post shares interesting recommendations and encourages community interaction, but it could benefit from more context about the albums and why they're significant.

Two that I've been playing a lot recently and were recommended by a friend are

'Mindgames' Sjunne Ferger.
A instant balearic classic. Reminds me in some ways of 'E2-E4' by Manuel Göttsching.

'Heavy Weather' Weather Report
Jazz funk you can actually listen to.

Any great albums that you've only recently discovered either by chance or recommendation?

Discovered a few years ago but way after its release - Postal Service - Give Up. An absolute classic

Recently might be a stretch but years after release I discovered all of The National's work.

Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish (hard to pick a specific album, so many good ones from them) only got on my radar a couple years ago even though the band has been around for 25 years now. Not sure how I missed Nightwish in the past other than they are (a) not well-known in Canada and (b) categorized as metal, a genre I have traditionally been averse to. Now that I'm into them, it's sent me down a whole rabbit hole of metal bands and sub-genres.
