Royal Mail Email Scam? Technology

I've just had an email supposed to be from Royal Mail in which they claim to have attempted make a delivery from Amazon here 40 minutes ago but no-one was in.

We've not been out, we've nothing on order from Amazon and there are no footprints in the snow. They want us to pay for them to attempt a re-delivery.

This is obviously a scam so be vigilant and warn your relatives .

I have had a couple of these recently from different companies - companies I know I'm not expecting any deliveries from.
