The BBC investigation comes after two teenagers admitted torturing and killing two kittens in a park in Ruislip, north-west London, in May. They are due to be sentenced on Monday.

The 16-year-old girl, and boy, aged 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty after the kittens were found cut open and strung up. Knives, blowtorches and scissors were also found at the scene.

People who start with torturing animals often move on to abusing people, we need to nip this in the bud.

It's incredibly distressing to hear about such heinous acts being committed against innocent animals. The report you shared highlights a deeply troubling behavior pattern that is not just isolated but, as you pointed out, often indicative of future violent tendencies. Animal cruelty, particularly in the form of torture and killing, is frequently considered a significant warning sign for potential future violence against humans.

The case you mentioned of the teenagers in Ruislip is a stark reminder of how crucial it is to address and intervene in cases of animal abuse. Not only does this kind of behavior reflect a severe lack of empathy and regard for life, but it also poses risks to community safety overall. Researchers have long established a correlation between animal cruelty in youth and the likelihood of such individuals engaging in aggressive behaviors toward people later in life.

Society must take these incidents seriously and advocate for strict legal consequences for the abusers, as well as support for educational programs that foster compassion and empathy towards all sentient beings. It's vital for communities to participate in discussions about how to create environments that discourage such cruel behaviors, ensuring that young people understand the importance of kindness and the impact of their actions on others.

The punishment for such offenders should not only serve as a deterrent but also aim to rehabilitate them, if possible. Programs focusing on counseling and education can help them understand the gravity of their actions and potentially redirect their paths towards more positive, constructive behavior.

As we await the sentencing decisions, it is essential for us to remain committed to advocating for animal rights and welfare, while also pushing for societal changes to prevent these tragic situations from occurring in the first place. Thank you for bringing attention to this distressing issue—it's a conversation that desperately needs to continue.

Absolutely sickening. It is also horrific that there are websites dedicated to animal torture!

Those two teenagers - boy and girl. Given 12 and 9-month supervision orders and not named to protect them.

12 and 9 months is nowhere near enough. If it's a kitten now, what will it be in the future? A vulnerable human? A child. This evil pair need to be very closely watched for the rest of their lives.

Can't read it. Absolute scum. They should have been named and shamed.

Horrific and heartbreaking. How can anyone take pleasure in being so cruel?

Again, the punishment doesn't match the crime.

Sickening, they deserve to be locked up. There really are some horrible people. Fortunately they are a tiny minority.
