Just after some advice from anyone in a similar position.

Having an absolute nightmare at the minute with my partner's youngest who is 5. Her behaviour is really poor, she lies all of the time, struggles to follow the most simple of instructions and it all most like any form of ask or request goes in one ear and out the other. We've tried loads of different things - sending to her room, removing IPad/TV time, no nice treats/days out etc, none of it makes any difference to her.

It's not just with me, it is also with her mum, her grandparents and her dad when she's with him.

She seemingly has no or very little remorse when she does anything wrong, and it's almost like she doesn't care about anyone or anything and is just a walking tornado of carnage.

I know kids will be kids, but I never experienced anything like this with my own children.

As a step-parent, has anyone else had a similar experience to this? I'm conscious that I'm a step-parent so don't want to overstep the mark, but by the same token, it's a nightmare being around her sometimes, and we're all struggling with what to do for the best.

Any advice would be appreciated!

There must be something at the root to cause this behaviour

That's the difficult thing that needs to be discovered. Once known then a path forward can be made

I do hope you find the reason and I suspect life will improve in time

Once you discover and can address the problem it will ease with time

Presumably, you're all on the same page and are consistent with how you respond to her?

E.g are the grandparents tolerating it to an extent? I imagine she'll grow out of it if you're all consistent.
