Overview:
WARRIORS, the new project from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, is a concept album inspired by the 1979 Paramount Pictures cult film, "The Warriors," based on the Sol Yurick novel of the same name.

WARRIORS is executive produced by GRAMMY Award-winning rapper & New York City native, Nas & produced by GRAMMY Award-winning musician Mike Elizondo.

WARRIORS is an immersive listening experience that follows a fictitious New York City gang from Coney Island to the Bronx and back when they are framed for the murder of a respected gang leader, Cyrus.

Miranda first saw the movie The Warriors at age four on a VHS copy that belonged to a friend's older brother. He says the story has been "on two stone tablets in my head" since then.

A friend suggested the idea of a musical based on the movie to him in 2009 after In The Heights came out. Miranda initially told his friend that the idea would never work. After his first run of performing in Hamilton, he realised he'd "lowkey been thinking about" adapting The Warriors since then. He proposed the idea of collaborating on the project to Eisa Davis, who had never seen the movie, in 2022.

I really like the way he puts together songs and loved the variation in genres between the gangs. Plus the cameo list is ridiculous.

However, I think it might be a bit of a marmite thing where some people might hate it due to that variation and the big departures from the film might not be appreciated
