Anyone noticed a lot of things are suddenly getting a lot more expensive?

Worrying when a lot of folk are already hard up due to the pandemic, redundancies, reduced wages etc

I noticed this with electrical components at work. Things that were £1200.00 a year ago are now closer to £1600.00. Massive price increases across the board. Food seems to holding level in my area which is good.

It's definitely a thing.. Some are being caused by a shortage of parts or the items themselves due to increased demand, and others seem to be caused by businesses trying to make up for losses over the last year or so.

Hopefully prices for things will start reducing again slightly as restrictions are eased, but I wouldn't be surprised to see prices remain higher in general. It's just the way the cookie crumbles and once again the poor will be the most affected.

Fuel seems to be going up weekly at the moment.

A guy on the radio said that when lockdown hit they had a surplus, so it got cheaper, now they need it production hasn't ramped up enough yet so there is less fuel and more demand, hence price rises.

Gas and electricity are going up every year as well at the moment.

Holidays seem to be coming down though due to lower demands.

Went to Asda for petrol the other day and it was the dearest I've seen it there since I started driving 6 years ago.

I buy my tins of coffee in bulk, usually 12 tins at a time sold as 2 packs of 6 tins, it was £18 a pack. I went to order it today and the price has jumped to £33 per pack!!!!

Prices of food items are ridiculous now, I think the supermarkets are just taking the mickey. Almost every online grocery shop that I do I will get an alert saying something I've ordered has increased in price...and it's not just pennies they increase by either.

I've noticed this too. I've been doing my grocery shopping online since the turn of the year and every week there is notification that at least 2 or 3 items have increased in price between the time I place the order and it is confirmed before delivery (I usually make my order 4 or 5 days in advance).
