Switzerland make one change from the side that came close to beating hosts Germany in their final group game. Right wing-back Silvan Widmer is suspended so a reshuffle sees Michael Aebischer switch over from the left, and Fabian Rieder drops back. Ruben Vargas is recalled on the right side of attack, after starting the first two games of the tournament.

Holders Italy make six changes from the side that clinched a last gasp draw with Croatia to reach the last 16. At the back Gianluca Mancini replaces the suspended Ricardo Calafiori, while Nicolo Fagioli and Bryan Cristante come in for Jorginho and Lorenzo Pellegrini in midfield. Federico Chiesa, Gianluca Scamacca and Stephan El Shaarawyin come in up front, with Mateo Retegui and Giacomo Raspadori making way. Left wing-back Federico Dimarco, who is nursing a calf strain, also drops to the bench.

Switzerland XI: Sommer, Schar, Akanji, Rodriguez, Vargas, Freuler, Xhaka, Aebischer, Ndoye, Embolo, Rider

Italy XI: Donnarrumma, Darmian, Bastoni, Mancini, Di Lorenzo, Barella, Fagioli, Cristante, Chiesa, El Shaarawyin

Can see Switzerland going through.

Reckon Germany will just batter a shit Denmark.

Fagioli and El Shaarawy starting is something of a surprise. Never been impressed the few times I watched the former

El Shaarawy starting, what's up with that? Has he been good those last ten years?

Swiss win today.

Italy team looks the sort you'd put out in a third group game when you've already qualified.

I think this will be close, but expect Italys defence to get them over the line.
