Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 (2023) Movie Thread

I liked the bit where Drax laughed and then had an argument with Quill about killing people. I'm looking forward to this, it looks very original.

New trailer. Looks good, but then they managed to cobble together a decent trailer from Love and Thunder, so...

I know I have more faith in James Gunn than in Waititi though!

Saw his today. I really enjoyed it. Maybe just because it stands so far above much of what the MCU has put out over the past 18 months, but I think the actual story they told was fantastic.

The easy thing would have been to have a death or two, especially as some of the actors have already said they're not interested in coming back. And it was pretty clear by how much they signposted Rocket's death in the trailers that he wouldn't actually be the death if any. But instead they told a great story where some of Guardians just discover a new purpose, or have realised it's time to move on.

It did languish in places, particularly the last third. Iwuji and Poulter were both terrific, though I would have liked more of Poulter.

It's the first MCU film since Spiderman NWH that I'm actually looking forward to watching again.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Better than the second one but not as good as the first.

A few bits and pieces were off and there's plenty that could have been cut to get the time down a bit, but all in all I did find myself laughing at points and enjoying it.

Best movie series in the MCU, I enjoyed all three, I really liked Chukwudi Iwuji's performance as the villain and the movie was very well-paced especially with the flashbacks

Easily the best Marvel output since the last Spiderman

Thought it was excellent and the ending really closed off everyone's story arc in a good way.

This may be my favourite Marvel film ever. They nailed everything about it and it was genuinely emotional.
