Last season Red Bull was absolutely no match for Mercedes at this track. I think this race will really give us a good picture of how competitive the Red Bull really is compared to the Mercedes.

They have added a second DRS to assist more over takes.

I don't believe or couldn't find any info of team upgrades been made this weekend. would like to be corrected/updated on that

It's only P1 but Mazepin is already miles off the pace.

Lewis Hamilton's 100th pole position will have to wait, he has to settle for second and it's his team-mate Valtteri Bottas, for the 17th time in his career, gets pole.

Max Verstappen is third, Sergio Perez fourth, Carlos Sainz fifth, Esteban Ocon a superb sixth, Lando Norris seventh, Charles Leclerc eighth, Pierre Gasly ninth and Sebastian Vettel 10th.

Some lap from Russell, P11 and out qualifies Alonso again.

Very good performance from Ocon today.

Bottas needed that. In the end Red Bull weren't that close, albeit in tricky conditions.

Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez and Leclerc are all starting on mediums tomorrow but Sainz in 5th is on softs. It will be interesting tomorrow.

What's happening with Ricciardo at all? I rate Norris highly but Sainz was right there with him last season and I got the impression the McLaren is more drivable than most.

Here's to an exciting race! If I stop posting midway, that means it's boring and I've nodded off.

Bottas got a good start.
