Sprint race this weekend.

Some points:
Can Verstappen return to winning ways and can Perez join him on the podium for a 1-2 in the home country of Red Bull? Can Sainz get back-to-back victories or will Ferrari teammate Leclerc put a stop to it?

Verstappen tops first practice.

The Dutchman was on the pace straight out of the blocks and ended the session as the quickest driver, ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.

Mercedes' George Russell was third, Verstappen's team-mate Sergio Perez was fourth and the other Silver Arrow of Lewis Hamilton finished fifth fastest.

Bottas will be starting from the back of the grid for the race on Sunday, because of a whole load of new parts.

Max Verstappen pipped Charles Leclerc to pole position for the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix with his final lap of qualifying.

The Dutchman was just 0.029 seconds quicker than Leclerc, with Sainz only 0.082secs off pole in a close session.

Both Mercedes crashed so George Russell starts fourth and Lewis Hamilton ninth.

Sergio Perez originally qualified fourth but was later excluded from the third part of qualifying in its entirety for exceeding track limits at the end of Q2 - an offence not noticed by race stewards at the time. The Mexican also lost his best time in Q2 and will start the race in 13th place.

An easy win for Max in the sprint race. I see the same for the main race also unless reliability issues crop up again.

Good battle between the two Haas cars and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.

Fair play to Mick, did well to defend as long as he did. Magnussen obviously didn't want to get caught but I think he could've done better to keep Mick in DRS.

Thought the Ferrari battle would end badly but it was good clean racing. It did slow them both down though. Don't think either would've got Max anyway, to be honest.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Leclerc needs a better start, tomorrow and in general.

Fairly comfortable for Verstappen. Was nice to see the Ferraris scrap it out for a little bit and will be interesting if Perez can give them something to think about tomorrow - I expect him to get past Russell handy enough.

Surprised Hamilton took so long to get past Schumacher actually, still bagged himself a point though so not bad considering the start.

Good start from Verstappen, good clean start.

Perez race ruined already after colliding with Russell

Perez tried too hard there. Needed to be more patient

Having seen the replay, Russell fecked up and caused a collision by bouncing off the kerbstones. Has to be a penalty.

Leclerc matching Max. Russell should get a penalty for sure
