UK gas prices soar more than 20%

UK gas prices this morning have soared over 20% after fresh strikes hit energy infrastructure in the Middle East, including Qatar's main gas facility.

UK gas prices are currently up by 23% to 171p per therm.

The oil price is trading at around 5% higher, at $113 a barrel.

Two waves of Iranian strikes caused "extensive damage" at Qatar's main gas hub, the country's state-run energy firm has said.

Why do we consider this man our friend? I simply don't understand.

Donald Trump says the US is considering "winding down" his war with Iran.

He says other nations will have to guard and police the Strait of Hormuz as necessary, after his attacks on the country prompted Iran to target vessels in the crucial world shipping lane.

The US will help "if asked" but that "shouldn't be necessary", he says, calling it "an easy Military Operation" for those nations.

"We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran," Trump wrote.

"The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn't be necessary once Iran's threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them."

What an idiot. Create a mess, slag off all your allies and call them cowards, then walk away. Really does look like Trump is just going to say "We won!" and go home, and let others worry about the mess he left behind. I'd say his Gulf State allies will love him for that, especially if Iran just say, "Ehm, we're not done yet"

Israel has no interest in peace. Everyone in the area is an enemy or someone to subjugate. Now they have a President in the White House who is so clueless that they have a free rein to achieve their goal.

They've attacked pretty much everyone in the last 40 years and are by far the most likely candidate to use a nuke when things aren't going their way.

They started this war for no other reason than to destabilise the only power in the region that could oppose them. With Iran gone, they would have free rein in the Middle East. They see themselves as a superpower, which is nuts. They're about the 10th of the size of the UK, but that's the level of delusion you're dealing with.

Trump has now given Iran 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz or they will start bombing Iran's power plants.

Here is the post in full:

If Iran doesn't FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!

Someone needs to shut this idiot up before World War 3 breaks out.

At some point, hopefully, America will put on adult in the room.

I wouldn't be surprised if China makes a move on Taiwan soon after seeing this clusterfuck unfold.

Trump will classify taking out Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as successful and claim the son is probably dead too - therefore successful regime change - he is not going to walk away from this without painting it as a giant US WIN.

Iran is claiming to have shot down two US warplanes – one F-15 flying over the southwest of the country and a second plane involved in a mission to rescue the F-15's crew. Two crew members were in the F-15 jet, with one member rescued and the other airman is still missing. The pilot of the second downed plane, an A-10 Warthog, ejected safely over the Gulf and was rescued.

Iran is offering rewards to anyone who captures the missing crew member alive, Iranian state TV reports, and US crews were reportedly met with gunfire during search-and-rescue efforts.

The is comes despite US President Donald Trump saying on Wednesday that Iran's drone and missile capabilities had been "decimated".
