The post raises relevant questions about AI and its implications for society but lacks depth and clarity in analysis. More detail and structured arguments would enhance its value to the community.

Companies are spending billions of pounds on AI. Top companies going all out and are worth multiples of trillions.

What are they, and we going to get out of this? How are companies going to make money and more importantly what is the normal person going to gain from it?

Surely anything that AI comes up with has to be checked by the human brain?

They're still writing the rule book…but the answer is that rich folks will control it, monetise it and get richer. Elon Musk is so rich that he might actually democratise it when he becomes a trillionaire.

I work in IT and the pace of improvement of AI is staggering. It's about to get real for a lot of people.

Most use it to ask questions instead of a web search right now. The newest models are good enough to take control of a mouse and keyboard to intelligently do work on your behalf.

Next year we are going to see virtual employees doing office work for a company. Once it has been trained on a job it can replace a human and work 24/7.

Governments are not ready for this and my worry is mass unemployment without a plan in place. Will they introduce an AI tax on companies and give a universal basic income?

How would you feel about not having to work? If done right it will be excellent for productivity, but I have no faith that policy will keep up.

For those who think this is rubbish, I suggest you watch this video. This is just one AI model released this week.

There are huge potential benefits but also big dangers which is why good regulation is essential.

For call centres, it should mean the end of having to wait 30 mins to speak to a bored human if AI can answer 90% of questions immediately leaving only the most complex cases to be passed to people. Some call centres will now take the recording of a call and use AI to generate a call transcript and summary saving the operator from having to type up their notes.

The benefits in healthcare are going to be the most revolutionary to make more efficient use of the time of doctors and other HCPs, early diagnosis could save the NHS billions and using AI as an automated second opinion will prevent costly mistakes being made.

But regulation is essential.

AI will never take away my job.

Only an idiot would do my job.

Ray Kurzweil, a leading futurist and Google's Director of Engineering, predicts that AI will reach human-level intelligence by 2029.

Kurzweil has a history of accurate predictions, including the rise of the internet and the victory of computers over human chess champions.

He believes AI will match human cognitive abilities within the decade, ushering in an era of rapid technological change.

What if your pet's barks or meows could be translated into words? 🐶🐱

Chinese tech giant Baidu has filed a patent for an AI-powered system that aims to interpret animals' emotional states - using sounds, behaviour, and physical signals - and translate them into human language.

Still in its research phase, the tech hopes to improve how we communicate with pets. The idea comes as devices like AAC button boards spark debate over whether pets can truly "talk."

Some are sceptical, but the tech world is watching closely.

China just unveiled the world's first AI-powered hospital, called "Agent Hospital," developed by Tsinghua University.

It features 42 AI doctors and 4 AI nurses working in a fully virtual environment, diagnosing and treating virtual patients using real medical data.

The system can handle up to 10,000 cases in just a few days - work that would take human doctors two years.

While it's not open to the public yet, this breakthrough shows how AI could soon transform healthcare training, efficiency, and accessibility.

AI company Anthropic revealed its Claude chatbot had been exploited by hackers in what it described as an "unprecedented" misuse of its technology.

The firm said attackers used Claude to write code for cyberattacks against at least 17 organisations, including government bodies, and to craft psychologically targeted ransom demands, even suggesting how much victims should pay.

In another case, North Korean operatives used Claude to create fake job applications for remote roles at major US firms.

Once hired, they relied on the AI to write code, translate messages, and maintain their deception, putting companies at risk of breaching international sanctions.

Anthropic said it disrupted the activity, reported it to authorities, and strengthened its detection tools. But experts warned the case highlighted how "agentic AI", autonomous systems that can make decisions, could accelerate cybercrime.

"The time required to exploit vulnerabilities is shrinking rapidly," said adviser Alina Timofeeva. "Detection must become proactive, not reactive."

While many ransomware attacks still come from old tricks like phishing emails, security specialists warned that AI has now become a powerful new weapon in the hands of hackers.
