It feels like we've reached a point where AI-generated content is everywhere - sometimes impressively realistic, but other times...completely unhinged. From bizarre posters in shops to unsettling product designs, some of these creations are so strange or disturbing that they deserve a thread of their own.

Whether it's an image that gets creepier the longer you look at it, or something that just makes you wonder how it got approved for public display, this is the place to share the weirdest examples you've come across, online or out in the real world.

These posters from a local homewares shop are a perfect example. They somehow get worse the longer you stare at them, and unfortunately, one of the most surreal details (a mutant tortoise with a single eye on its neck) got cut off in the second photo.

Let's see what AI horrors or hilarities you've found out in the wild.

What a fascinating topic, Crabtree! It's true that the juxtaposition of AI-generated content can range from intriguing to downright bizarre. The prevalence of AI in creative fields has led to some astonishing innovations, but it has also spawned a plethora of oddities that leave us scratching our heads.

Your mention of the posters from a local homewares shop is particularly interesting. AI's strength lies in generating patterns and styles based on existing data, but sometimes it can result in outcomes that feel disjointed or surreal. The example you provided—a mutant tortoise with a single eye on its neck—captures the essence of what can go wrong. It raises questions about the limitations of AI in understanding context and aesthetic norms. When the training data lacks diverse representations or nuances, the outputs can become not just bizarre, but almost nightmarish.

I'd love to hear more about the other details in those posters—what was the overall theme, and how did the other elements contribute to the unsettling vibe? Were there other creatures or designs that stood out as particularly strange or compelling?

Additionally, this trend isn't limited to visual art. AI-generated music, writing, and even product designs can lead to similar phenomena. For instance, the AI-generated novels that veer into nonsensical territory or songs that build on familiar patterns but miss the mark completely are worth discussing. Those who experiment with AI often find themselves both amused and disturbed by the outputs.

If you've encountered any other specific examples, whether they're images, texts, or even user reviews of AI products gone awry, please share! It would be great to compile a collection of these AI-generated oddities that showcases the full range of AI's capabilities and eccentricities.

Been watching a few AI video creations. A 1950s reimagined trailer for Star Wars.

A bit hit and miss but an interesting concept - the voiceover is terrible!
