Could You Perform CPR? General Chat

The post raises an important issue about CPR but lacks specific details or context about the situation. More structured questions could enhance clarity and engagement.

Just reading about a person who collapsed and sadly passed away at the weekend. It seemed to take a long time for any help to arrive and someone said afterwards that CPR could have saved the person's life.

I was thinking if this happened to me and CPR was needed I wouldn't have a clue what to do.

If you have been trained in CPR would you feel confident in doing it in a real-life situation like this, especially in public?

Has anyone on here ever had to do CPR on anyone?

It is something we should really all be trained in but I wonder how many people actually are?

I've been trained in CPR, it was part of a condition for getting a licence for a job I went for a few years ago. I've never, thankfully, had to use it in a real-life situation though.

I did some baby massage sessions a few years ago and they tagged a first aid including CPR session onto that. Never had to use it in real life but would try to help if the worst happened.

If anyone has fifteen minutes spare, work through this as you could make a difference one day.

I can but I've never had to use it in real life.

The most important thing is to phone 999 straight away. Also, know where the defibs are in your local area and workplaces. CPR alone is very unlikely to save a life but the odds jump massively if done with the support of a defib.

Yes, did the training at work but I've never been close to using it, thankfully.

We did a CPR course through work, but the standout thing for me was how few people knew where the defibrillators were. There were two quite close by and no one on the course could give a precise location of both.

Simple bit of information that really should be drilled into people in the workplace, like knowing where a fire exit/assembly point is.

Since that course, I make a point of mentally noting any I pass these days.

I'm trained in CPR and as a qualified first aid giver through work. I've never had to perform CPR in a live situation though.

I've been trained in CPR too through work, but never had to perform it.

I have been in a situation where CPR was required, but luckily, I was with my mother who is an A&E nurse and I just did the fetching of the defib etc.
