Do you keep in close contact with your cousins?

I don't really. I grew up quite far away from all of mine and then as we got older, I'd only see them at certain events. Most of mine are still in contact with each other, live near-ish to each other etc but I haven't really had what much of a relationship with any of them.

Not really, all my cousins are lovely people, I just don't know them.

At weddings, christenings etc we all get on very well have the craic but outside of that there aren't enough mutual connections to keep a genuine friendship going

I have 15+ cousins - I would be 'friends' with them on Facebook etc, we would like and comment on each other's posts - but only 1 of them I have a genuinely close friendship with and would meet up with on a regular basis

Yes but only when we happen to see each other at family functions. Growing up we were all really close.

Not really, keep in surface contact with one or two but that's it. I have one cousin I basically refuse to talk to because he is an out and out little shit.

I was as close to my cousins as brothers and sisters growing up, but now, we see each other at the rare family events we are actually worthy to attend, send a Christmas card and that's about it. Like old work colleagues, when you've no longer anything in common you drift apart.

Similarly with others, I'd definitely say I was closer to my cousins growing up.. Now I don't speak with any of them on a regular basis; My eldest cousin I see maybe once or twice a year, a few of them I've added on Facebook but seldom communicate with, and others I haven't seen in about 25 years!

I partly blame family politics - both sets of parents separated, family disagreements, etc - but there's also an element of us living our own lives.

Not really. Once my grandparents died, relationships petered out. One of my cousins lives next door to my parents but I'd never see her or call for a coffee when I'm staying with my folks.

I met two of them at Christmas time and the years fell away we had such a lovely chat and I've one in Greece as well who I message on social media from time to time. She's the only one I'm Facebook friends with.

I share DNA with them but that doesn't mean we have much else in common.

Very close to some of them, some I'd easily go from one year to the next without seeing or hearing from them.
