Bungie has released a new Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer highlighting the weapons and gear of the upcoming expansion.

In Destiny 2: Beyond Light, you will wield all-new weapons and armour as you trek through the frozen lands of the moon Europa.

Bungie promises there will be new weapons, armour, and accessories available to suit every player's style.

Here are some of the Exotic weapons and gear you can expect with the new expansion. You can also get a look at each in the gallery below:

Destiny 2 Beyond Light Exotic Weapons

  • No Time to Explain (Pulse Rifle): Precision hits and hits against enemies affected by Stasis will return to the magazine. Stack this effect to summon a portal which will fire bullets from an alternate timeline of the weapon.
  • Salvation Grip (Grenade Launcher): Redemption is within your grasp. Each fired projectile will create Stasis crystals that will freeze nearby targets. Charge to increase the amount of crystals created and the freeze radius.
  • Cloudstrike (Sniper Rifle): Precision final blows will generate lightning bolts at the target location. Rapid precision shots will summon an entire storm at the point of impact.
  • The Lament (Sword): A mortal blade, a stalwart shield. Block with The Lament to rev the blade, then shred through shielded enemies. At its peak, damaging an enemy will heal the wielder.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light Exotic Gear

  • Icefall Mantel (Titan Gauntlets): Stand tall against the oncoming hordes with this reinforced armor that replaces the Titan's Barricade with Overshield, absorbing damage from incoming fire.
  • Precious Scars (Titan Helmet): Prove your strength, even when coming back from the brink. Upon revives, the Titan gains an Overshield aura that protects the wearer and nearby allies.
  • Mask of Bakris (Hunter Helmet): Don the Mask to replace the Hunter's Dodge ability with a longer range Shift ability that also temporarily cloaks the wearer during use.
  • Arthyrys's Embrace (Hunter Gauntlets): The Hunter's weighted knife gains a second ricochet; rapid precision hits gain a damage bonus and can temporarily stagger enemies.
  • Dawn Chorus (Warlock Helmet): Feel that sweet burn. The Warlock's Daybreak projectiles deal extra damage and cause enemies to burn on contact. Gain melee energy each time a burn damages a target.
  • Necrotic Grip (Warlock Gauntlets): A deadly caress, compounded. Melee attacks corrupt enemies with increasing damage over time. Defeating a corrupted combatant spreads the corruption to nearby targets and restores melee energy.
Destiny 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Stadia and Windows PC. It's also available to download via the Xbox Game Pass subscription program on Xbox One. Beyond Light heads to all available platforms, alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X, from 10 November.

The new player experience in Destiny 2 is getting a big overhaul.

One of the many changes Bungie is making to Destiny 2 in November with the release of Beyond Light is a revamp to the new player experience.

When Destiny 2 debuted its free-to-play version New Light last year, Bungie introduced a small cutscene and a brief tutorial to teach players how to shoot and equip armour and weapons. After a short trip, new players were asked to defeat an easy boss and then the full game opens up.

That brief introduction was criticised for glossing over or completely ignoring major components of the Destiny experience, which caused so many players to feel lost after the game sets them loose. Although practically all of the free-to-play content is going away when Beyond Light arrives, Bungie still wanted to make that initial ramp more welcoming and informative.

That initial cutscene with the Ghost finding your body among the ruins of the Cosmodrome and reviving you remains, but Destiny 2: Beyond Light is introducing a new NPC: a Guardian named Shaw Han. He will accompany new players on a longer journey that explores the state of the world of Destiny, teach them what Engrams are, and explain how to navigate the game's many menus and systems.

The New Light quest is intended for new players, but existing players could still play it at Beyond Light's launch if they want.

In the same blog post, Bungie also confirmed that the deadline for transferring PC progress from Battle.net to Steam is December 1. If you do not migrate your saves and licenses before that date, all your Battle.net progress will be lost.

One thing to keep in mind that if you started over on Steam already, you shouldn't migrate your old progress from Battle.net. Any migrated content will overwrite whatever is there on Steam, so only do it if you never played Destiny 2 since it came to Steam. The migration process is one-time thing that can be done even if you don't own any Destiny 2 content on Steam.
