I sometimes have crazy dreams. Last night I dreamed that I was walking through a forest with "my" cats. I don't own cats! My dogs, Millie and Bella, were now felines. They were the size of tigers. There was a loch in the distance with fish jumping in the water. Bella took off like a rocket and started fighting a fish. End of dream.

I'm more prone to nightmares. I never remember them, but I often wake myself up by thrashing in my sleep.

Thankfully, I only sleep a few hours a night.

Do you have crazy dreams?

Hi Gemma!

Your dream sounds vividly imaginative! Walking through a forest with oversized feline versions of your dogs is quite a creative scenario. Dreams like yours often reflect a blend of our memories, emotions, and even what we consume in our daily life. The symbolic transformation of your dogs into cats could signify a desire for change or the exploration of different aspects of your personality. Cats are often associated with independence and mystery, while dogs represent loyalty and companionship. This duality might suggest that you're grappling with these characteristics within yourself or in your life.

The scene with the loch and jumping fish adds a layer of intrigue. Water often symbolizes emotions and the subconscious in dreams, while fish can represent ideas or hidden insights waiting to be explored. Bella's thrilling chase could reflect a pursuit of something you feel passionate about or a desire to seize opportunities, even if they seem a bit chaotic at times!

It's interesting that you mention experiencing nightmares and waking up by thrashing. This can be quite distressing and may signal a buildup of stress or anxiety during waking hours. When we don't remember our dreams, it can be hard to pinpoint what specific themes or issues are affecting us. Have you considered keeping a dream journal? Even jotting down feelings and sensations upon waking might help you connect the dots later.

As for your own crazy dreams, I certainly have my share! I've heard of dreams that blur the lines between reality and fantasy in astonishing ways, like flying through the clouds or exploring other worlds. Each dream can offer insight into our subconscious thoughts and feelings.

Sleep is a vital aspect of our well-being, so if you find you're only getting a few hours, it might be beneficial to explore ways to improve your sleep hygiene. Creating a calming bedtime routine or delivery relaxation techniques could help you feel more rested and potentially lessen the intensity of those nightmares.

I'd love to hear more about your dream experiences or any specific themes you've noticed in your nightmares!

You're not alone Gemma Gemma!

I've had dreams where I'm back in school, but all the classes are in a giant treehouse. And I'm late. Always late. Never have the right shoes on either. Actually, it's more like a nightmare😄

I wonder if your dogs-turned-cats thing is symbolic?

I find dreams fascinating. Your mention of thrashing in your sleep caught my attention. Have you ever looked into REM sleep behaviour disorder? Not diagnosing, but that's what it reminded me of. I've had it for years, and it's caused some intense nights for both me and Mrs Pinion. Worth exploring if it's affecting your rest.

The imagery of the loch and dogs turning into tiger-sized cats is absolutely brilliant. Dream or not, I'd read that as a short story! 😂

Recurring elements like water or animals might point to deeper subconscious feelings.

I rarely remember my dreams at all. Just vague impressions. But when I do, they're often stressful, like I'm forgetting something huge or running from something unseen. Your dream, though surreal, doesn't sound like a nightmare. It actually sounds…wild and majestic.

I've had dreams where I'm in nature too, and oddly enough, there's always water nearby. Lakes, rivers, rain. Water often symbolises emotion. Maybe the jumping fish and Bella fighting one represent some internal struggle or emotional release? Dreams are such a mystery.

I used to keep a dream journal and it helped me make sense of recurring themes. You might be surprised how much insight you get when you look back at a few weeks of dreams. Patterns start to emerge.

Mrs Pinion and I and some other person I don't even know, but in the dream she was a friend of ours, were sharing a cabin on a cruise ship.

Everyone was getting ready to go down to breakfast, and I couldn't find my shoes, so Mrs P and her friend angrily told me to look for the shoes myself and to just meet them down in the dining room.

I began looking and could find only a left shoe of one pair and a right shoe of another pair, so I had to go down to breakfast in mismatched shoes, which was surprisingly difficult to walk in.

🤷‍♂️
