Favourite National Cuisines General Chat Food & Recipes

I'd have to pick Italian as my favourite, I love eating pasta and could quite happily live on pasta dishes all week if I had to! If I'm going out to a restaurant it will usually be an Italian one or a Chinese one. Chinese is probably my second favourite cuisine, I love going to Chinese restaurants or making Chinese meals from scratch but I'm not big on Chinese takeaways. My third choice would be a toss-up between Indian, Mexican and Thai. I've gone with Thai because I love the ingredients that they predominately use in their recipes and the flavours - lemongrass, galangal, coconut milk etc

Which national cuisines do you enjoy eating the most? (You can choose up to three)

Chinese, Indian and good old British cuisine. Can't beat a good Sunday roast, shepherd's pie and classic fish & chips in my opinion.

Italian and French are definitely my top 2. For Italian, obviously pasta dishes and pizzas. Traditional French food is some of my favourite food for cooking or dining out - Boeuf Bourguignon, Coq au Vin, Ratatouille and Steak au Poivre ?

Italian, Indian, and Turkish.

Italian is often a safe bet for a really tasty meal. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a pasta or pizza dish.. That being said, I often go for a classic bolognaise.

Indian currys.. Yum! I still have fond memories of the first time I tried a Chicken Korma, as Peter Kay would say "it's a taste sensation!". I rarely have Kormas anymore and have moved on to Bhuna, Saag, or Tikka Masala. Occasionally I'll go for a Madras if I fancy a bit of heat - I've had Vinadloos but the heat tends to take away from any real flavour.

Turkish kebabs cooked over charcoal are simply delicious, and are about as healthy as dining out can get.

Indian and Thai for me. I love the flavours, colours and spices. I also love simple Italian food.

Love pasta, and have it once a week. Next is Mexican, how can you not like tacos? (we make our own healthier version), and for my third choice, Canadian, although with the exception of poutine (the worlds most unhealthiest dish ever created by man), I'm not sure what constitutes Canadian food, beaver tails? lol.

As Canada is made up of mostly immigrants from over the centuries (my Mothers side is Irish, and my Dads is Ukrainian), I think Canadian food is just our take on other nationalities. For example, Cabbage rolls, padaha, and borscht are our families favourites passed down through the generations.

For a long long time, I would have said Chinese, but for the last few years, I find Chinese food totally unappealing. Certainly, any stuff you get from supermarkets or takeaways.

I must admit I do love Italian food. Not just pasta and pizza but when I do eat meat it is cured or smoked based on Italian methods.

I like many of those but the poll is limited to 3 so I picked probably my top 3.

Chinese is probably number 1 but I get home cooked so that may skew things a bit. My wife is from Shanghai and immigrated to Canada in the late eighties.

Italian is probably the one we eat second most often. Pasta is just too damn easy to make in quantity.

Indian I am extremely fond of but too much is seriously spicy and my wife has a sensitive stomach so we don't eat it much anymore. My son is dating a Pakistani girl so he will probably be the family South Asian cuisine expert eventually if that keeps up.

I like most of them but I've voted for the ones I eat most often - Chinese, Thai and Mexican.

Cooking at home:

Mediterranean - a bit of a cheat, but encompasses some fantastic regions, French, Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Turkish, Moroccan etc
Thai - lots of prep and very little actual cooking makes lovely healthy meals
Chinese - I'm making pork belly tonight, as it goes

Eating out:

Nepalese curry - tends to be less heavy than Indian, from my experience
Italian - sadly, I don't think the Italian restaurants here are as good. They focus more on size and less on flavour. But I do like some nice Italian food. And wine.
Greek - difficult to get grilled lamb and chicken wrong
