I quite enjoyed it. It's not quite the film the trailers made out it would be which is no bad thing. I loved the small references to ancient Rome and the tension between Mae and the apes.

I didn't care for the previous instalment so it's nice to be pleasantly surprised.

Saw this last night. I thought it was great, actually. A lot better than I thought it was going to be, after the superb trilogy that we just had. There's not a real noticeable dip in quality and I thought the series continued nicely with this film, whilst also being the start of something brand new.

The ending of the film sets up a sequel rather nicely and shows the possible direction they may go. My wife had a theory about the telescope showing a wormhole, since there was a line about a hole that 'eats light'. That could just be the telescope itself, but she thinks it's what the scope is showing. Interesting.

Mae is a very interesting character and I could easily see her being the antagonist of this trilogy. Thought they did a good job of introducing her and adding that constant mystery and intrigue about who she could be. I initially thought they were going to reveal her as a Charlton Heston-esque astronaut who has crash landed on this planet.

Finally got around to watching this and was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely loved the second movie and this was almost at the same level, which was a nice return to form after being quite disappointed with the third movie.

Watched this at the weekend. It was an interesting start to a new trilogy. A little slow at times with a few too many characters to introduce in one film but I enjoyed it and I am hopeful for the future of the Apes films
