Reports of multiple people stabbed at a hotel in Glasgow city centre. At least 3 dead and 3 injured according to early reports.

Very sad that there are people out there with so much hate inside them.

Stabbings have become a major problem in Britain over the past few years.

Suspect dead, police officer serious but stable condition. Six in hospital, including the officer. Tweet by Police Scotland.

Although other news outlets are saying 3 people are dead.

Glasgow used to be Britain's "knife capital" as the number of knife-related murders spiralled out of control in the earlier 2000s but I think the recent "trend" in London has surpassed even what happened back then.

Hopefully these reports are premature and it is only the suspect that is dead.

Reports still saying "three dead" including the attacker. Too early to say whether it was a terror-related incident.

All reports now saying one dead (the attacker) and several injured including a policeman.
Too early to say whether it was a terror-related incident.
Doesn't seem to be terror related

When I used to live in Glasgow in the '00s a knife attack like this wouldn't even make the news.

Good to see that it is only the attacker that appears to be dead and not others killed as reported earlier.

A man has been shot dead by police after a stabbing attack at a hotel in Glasgow city centre.

Six people are being treated in hospital for their injuries, including a 42-year-old police officer who was said to be "critical but stable".

Sources had suggested two other people died at the hotel, which is currently housing asylum seekers. In fact, it appears only the suspect was killed.

Police said the incident was not being treated as terrorism.

The other injured men in hospital are aged 17, 18, 20, 38 and 53.

A police spokesman said the situation was "contained" and there was no danger to the general public.
