I think I've only ever played one Metal Gear Solid game so I'm not too familiar with the franchise but this looks good

A new gameplay trailer was showcased at the Konami Press Start event

Konami is reviving the franchise's multiplayer aspect with a new mode called Fox Hunt, but it's important to note that it will offer a gameplay experience that's quite different from what we saw in Metal Gear Online.

Metal Gear Online was a beloved multiplayer component launched alongside Metal Gear Solid 4 in 2008, but its servers went offline in 2012. With the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater set for August 28, 2025, fans are eager to see what's in store.

The newly revealed Fox Hunt mode promises a fresh take on multiplayer. In a recent video, snippets of gameplay showed a soldier using camouflage technology to blend into their surroundings. This mode is described by Yu Sahara, the director, as taking the concepts of camouflage and hide-and-seek "to the next level." The gameplay revolves around the tension of stealth and the thrill of hunting down opponents, which sounds like a fascinating twist for the series.

In addition to the multiplayer news, there are plenty of updates regarding the main game itself. The developers have enhanced AI, animations, and rebalanced aspects of boss battles while retaining the core gameplay that fans love. Additionally, the Secret Theatre feature is making a return with both original and new collectable videos hidden throughout the game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater brings one of gaming's most iconic titles back into the spotlight - and it does so with remarkable care. Built on Unreal Engine 5, this remake feels like a love letter to the original while updating it for a new generation. It captures what made Metal Gear Solid 3 so special, then layers in modern enhancements that make it shine all over again.

There was understandable scepticism when Delta was first announced. After all, Snake Eater is often hailed as one of the best entries in the series - a tough act to follow. But once you dive in, those doubts fade quickly. Delta manages to be both a nostalgic return for longtime fans and a perfect starting point for newcomers. Every environment has been meticulously rebuilt, and the addition of new voice work helps breathe even more life into the story.

At its core, the essence of Metal Gear Solid 3 remains completely intact. The blend of stealth, action, and emotional storytelling still feels as powerful as it did years ago. The Cold War setting provides the perfect stage for tense infiltrations, survival mechanics, and close-quarters combat. Whether you're stalking through the jungle, crafting camouflage on the fly, or hunting animals to stay alive, the sense of immersion is outstanding.

What's always made this game stand out is its emphasis on player choice. The world reacts to your actions in meaningful ways - clear out a base early on, and you might find later missions play out differently. Those subtle, interconnected details are what keep players experimenting and replaying. Thankfully, all of that depth has been preserved here.

The story remains as gripping as ever - a masterclass in espionage, loyalty, and moral ambiguity. It's a tale that balances deep philosophical themes with moments of absurd humour, a mix that only Metal Gear could pull off. Even today, its reflections on patriotism and sacrifice hit surprisingly hard.

Technically, Delta is a stunner. The visual upgrade is incredible - lush jungles, dynamic lighting, and detailed character models that feel alive but still true to the original's aesthetic. Gameplay has also been refined with smoother controls and smarter camouflage systems. You can swap outfits instantly, move with more fluidity, and generally enjoy a more seamless experience without losing the challenge that defined the original.

And yes - Snake vs. Monkey is back, as wonderfully weird as ever. It's those kinds of quirky extras that remind you how much personality this series has always had.

That said, a few minor issues remain. The modern control setup can make certain encounters easier than intended, particularly for veterans. Thankfully, there's an option to revert to the classic control scheme, letting you choose how "old school" you want your experience to feel.

Overall, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is an impressive achievement - a remake that both honours and revitalises a masterpiece. It respects the legacy of MGS3 while delivering a polished, modernised experience that feels right at home in today's gaming landscape. For fans and newcomers alike, this is a return to the jungle worth taking.
