Deep Silver has just announced that Metro 2039 is coming before the end of 2026! To celebrate, they've released the reveal trailer along with some stunning first screenshots. I've got to say, the visuals are looking rather promising!



In this latest instalment, players will dive deep into the chaotic world of post-apocalyptic Moscow. You'll take on the role of a Stranger, who's caught in a fierce conflict against a fanatical Spartan named Hunter. The storyline sounds intense, with the backdrop of survivors battling for dominance in the Metro tunnels.

The Storyline

• The year is 2039, and for over 25 years, the remnants of humanity have been entrenched in a brutal war following a nuclear catastrophe.
• The survivors have rallied under Hunter's oppressive regime, which thrives on fear and propaganda, as they prepare for a new war against a looming enemy on the surface.
• The Stranger, plagued by haunting memories, must venture back into the Metro, a place he long swore to avoid, to confront his past and fight for survival.

Metro 2039 is set to be darker and more intense than its predecessors, and the newly unveiled Collector's Edition is sure to catch your attention.

A new gameplay trailer for Metro 2039 was revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, showing how players will have to deal with a new regime that has risen from the ashes of the nuclear war that turned the world into a radioactive wasteland.



The gameplay showcased several hallmarks of Metro's distinct action. These include dangerous metro tunnels filled with soldiers, monsters inhabiting the radiation-filled surface, and the many, many guns you'll have to dispatch them with. As in previous entries, you'll be able to craft weapons to suit your playstyle, with gameplay that showcases an aggressive approach to the series' stealth action.

While Metro 2039 still features mutated monsters and ghouls, it seems 4A Games is focusing more on the atrocities humans can commit in this sequel. As described by developers on stage at Opening Night Live, Metro 2039 is about consequences: the cost of silence, the horror of tyranny, the price of freedom. It is clear the studio is drawing from its experience of developing the sequel while enduring the ongoing war in Ukraine.
