Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a first-person action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It is the next main entry in the Metroid series.
In the game, players control iconic bounty hunter Samus Aran, who is transported to the alien planet Viewros. There, she must survive hostile creatures, investigate ruins of a lost civilisation, and face her rival Sylux, in a mission that blends exploration, combat, and discovery.
The gameplay retains the signature first-person exploration and scanning mechanics of previous Prime games, while introducing new abilities - notably psychic powers that let Samus manipulate objects and her beam, plus a vehicle called the Vi-0-La to traverse the new hub world.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond merges atmospheric exploration, ability-based progression, and sci-fi action - delivering a fresh chapter in the Metroid franchise while honouring its roots.
Currently 80 on Metacritic. The Metroid Prime series typically averages 90, but the last instalment came out nearly two decades ago, and a lot has changed since then. It seems like they have played it safe and not made any major changes, which is good for fans of the series.
