Great competitor. Too bad he didn't end up winning a championship that his great career deserved.

In some ways I'm surprised, and other ways I'm not surprised. I didn't think he would make the announcement so soon, and I'm sure the Colts had even said to him they would like him back for another year but that's that!

Pity for him he didn't get that Super Bowl. In an AFC conference era with a lot of exceptional QBs he made his mark.

Rivers was a great leader and QB. You don't make the top 5 in yards and TDs if your not elite. The only thing missing was a Super Bowl ring. He should be a future hall of famer.

He played the 2007 AFC Championship Game with a torn ACL ?

Great QB up until a few years ago but I feel like he threw too many interceptions in the last couple of years so he is probably getting out at the right time imo.

It's sad that his final year with the Chargers was plagued by inconsistency and a terrible OL. He's a damn good QB that unfortunately didn't make it to the big game.
