Can you read more than one book at a time?

I am asking this as I am just curious. I enjoy reading, but the speed with which I read really varies. Sometimes I'm reading a book and I really want to get to the end and move on to something else, I can lose patience and just want to get to the final page!

But I can only seem to read one book at a time. I don't have enough time in the day to dedicate myself to 2 books at a time, and there is a risk you can just get plots/characters mixed up!

I was thinking of maybe reading 1 fiction and 1 non-fiction book at the same time, as there is less chance of getting things mixed up maybe.

I always have several on a go. When the plot of one novel gets a bit flat or may be I've just got a bit bored with it, I switch to another. Sometimes I forget to go back to the earlier novels. Usually have factual books on the go as well that I can dip in to.

Personally, no. I prefer to stay with the one book and finish it.

I usually have two books on the go, one on my tablet (Kindle app) or a physical copy and one audiobook. I make sure that they're different genres so as to avoid confusion.

I don't think it's something I've ever done with fiction. My habit is to just sit and read a novel in one session, with the only interruptions being breaks for refreshment or calls of nature.

If I'm working my way through a particularly weighty bit of non-fiction, which is too substantial to be consumed in one sitting, then I might split it into chunks and read something else in the breaks. Couldn't imagine I'd ever find myself hopping back and forth between two heavyweight works over a period though.

Absolutely not!

As I've got older I have enough trouble remembering who all of the characters are in one book without bringing another book into the equation.

I don't like reading certain book genres before bed so I read them during the day but others I can happily read in bed so I often end up with two on the go.

I probably can read more than one at a time but I usually just stick with the one book until it is done then move on to the next.

I usually have two fiction books on the go but they have to be different genres, or I'd get them confused. I read fantasy/sci-fi during the day, and a thriller/murder mystery in bed at night.

Can I? Yes. Do I? Nowadays, I tend to read just one book at a time then move on to the next book.
