The post shares a personal experience but lacks depth and detail. It could be more helpful if it included information on causes or coping strategies for sleep paralysis.

Anyone suffered with sleep paralysis?

It has probably happened to me about 3-4 times in my life and it's been terrifying each time, you sort of go in a mental battle with your body to wake itself up, very weird.

You are asleep, but mentally you feel awake, however you can't move. Feels like you're paralysed and want to get up, but can't.

I used to get it quite a lot. Scared the shit out of the the first few times, really didn't know what was happening. I got used to it over time and it became an irritation more than anything else. I found it used to happen more when I was extremely tired going to bed.

I haven't had it much the last few years but it used to occur between 15 and 20 times a year when in my teens through to my mid-20s.

Bloody hell, that sounds horrible.

I could be wrong but I think anxiety, stress that kind of thing brings it on.

Also, if you need to be up early, your mind tells you not to fully drift off but your body wants to sleep and causes sleep paralysis to happen.

Some people have visions of things pushing them down and stuff as well. I usually have some shadowy creature around when it happens but I've had it enough times to recognise it's sleep paralysis while it's happening.

The mind is a wonderful thing.

Oh God, I've had this before too. Didn't realise it was a "thing". It's a few years since I've experienced it thankfully. Not something I'd wish to repeat.

I've had it loads of times. Not sure about anyone else but I always feel like there's a presence, the last time it felt like someone was actually on top of me but when things settled no one was there.
