Watched 4 episodes of the new season, so far so good. Have to say it seems extremely different to the books or at least what I remember of them. May need to reread them it seems.

I haven't read the original books, were they pretty good? So far the show has been one of my major frontrunners for favorite.

Yes, the books are very good but like a lot of adaptations, they differ slightly from the screen version. There are currently 12 books in the series with a 13th due later this year. The first 4 seasons of the TV show correspond roughly to the first 8 books in the series.

A trailer has popped up, giving suitably "last season" energy.

The final season is coming to Netflix on Wednesday.

Looking forward to this.

I forgot where things were left so I'm re-watching season 4 first. It's one of my favourite shows in the last 5 years.

Good start so far. We are on the second episode of the final season. They started at a fast pace!

I do believe there is going to be a movie too which I guess may continue the story/tie up loose ends?

Finished it, binge-watched over 2 nights. They did well with the ending, the last couple of episodes are a bit rushed but it's handled well and everything most everything gets tied up one way or the other. A couple of unexpected twists compared to the book.

Sticking faithfully to the books (as best they could) for 4 seasons left them having to cut a lot and merge a lot (5 books in a season) but they handled it as well as could be expected.
