Chelsea have agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for Conor Gallagher after the England midfielder turned down the offer of a contract extension on Wednesday

Gallagher turned down a new three-year contract extension (two years plus the option of another year) to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. He also turned down the offer of an extension to his deal in early June.

Conor Gallagher has reportedly been informed that he will not be part of the Chelsea first-team dressing room this season, and that he'll only be a squad player under the new style of play.

The English midfielder was open to signing a new long-term deal, but was told that when he reports to training on Monday, he won't train with the first-team and won't be permitted to the first-team building.

Brutal by the club considering he played the most minutes for them last season.

Very harsh. He needs to get out of there ASAP

Southampton have had a £15m bid for Fabio Carvalho rejected by Liverpool.

Southampton will consider a second offer, for a player who they also tried to sign in January. Liverpool are reluctant to sell a player who they believe has a big future at the club, according to reports.

Conor Gallagher is expected to fly to Spain today to hold further talks with Atletico Madrid to finalise personal terms.

Chelsea accepted a deal in the region of £34 million last week and could not find consensus with the player over new contract terms to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico Madrid are in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Julian Alvarez.

They made an official approach over the weekend and negotiations are ongoing. The deal currently being proposed by the Spanish side is understood to be in the region of €55million (£46.8m) with add-ons pushing the total cost to €70m (£59m).

West Ham United have announced the signing of Germany international centre-forward Niclas Füllkrug.

The prolific striker joins the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year contract for a fee believed to be €27m + €5m in addons.

Dialogue remains open between Fulham and Manchester United over the signing of midfielder Scott McTominay.

Fulham are yet to decide if they will go back in with an improved offer after having two bids rejected – the latest was worth £20m. It's understood United would have to compromise on their asking price for Fulham to come back to the table.

Man City and Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal for Julian Alvarez up to £81m (€95m). Atletico will pay £64m up front (€75m) with a further £17m of potential add-ons (€20m), which will be a record sale for City.

It represents a huge profit on the £14m they paid River Plate for the Argentina forward in January 2022. Personal terms still have to be agreed, although not expected to be a problem.

I know there is little a club can do when a player wants to move but this is another blow for City, similar to losing Gundogan. I like Alvarez so hopefully he gets the game time he deserves and continues what has been a really successful career so far.
