Some people disagree with it, some regard it as an essential part of their role. Attitudes in certain countries differ from here.

I tip

Hairdressers - big tip, always.
Taxi drivers - usually a quid, nowt if they are unhelpful or monosyllabic.
Waiting staff - always - 10% of total spend minimum

Who do you tip?

Takeaway delivery drivers and bar staff/waiting staff - a lot of bar staff are happy with a bottle of beer or other drink rather than a money tip

Waiting staff - varies based on the level of service received.
Taxi drivers - I'm usually 3 sheets to the wind when I'm in a taxi so feeling generous.
Hairdressers - no idea why tbh.

Window cleaners get a tip at xmas

Waiting staff and bar staff in restaurants and pubs (and cafes on the odd occasion I use them).

And the barber or hairdresser.

Our postie gets a Christmas card and a crate of beer or a couple of bottles of wine but I found out last Christmas that he was giving up the drink this year so he'll probably get money this Christmas, if the Royal Mail still exists at the end of the year.

I tip hairdressers, taxi drivers can keep the change up to £3 and I'll tip waiting staff if they've been decent. I will buy the bar staff a drink if I've been in somewhere a while.
