Ubisoft's XDefiant, a Tom Clancy-inspired shooter, finally has a release date of 22 May.

The release will take the form of a six-week preseason ahead of a proper first season of content.

The title will be released with 14 total maps, and all five factions that have featured in various playtests to date. Those factions have connections to Ubisoft franchises Far Cry, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Watch Dogs. The Watch Dogs faction, Dedsec, will only be playable "after unlocking or purchasing," according to Ubisoft.

After the initial preseason, XDefiant will feature quarterly seasons, each with a 90-tier Battle Pass. Ubisoft says players can expect 4 new factions, 12 new maps, and 12 new weapons introduced through XDefiant's first year.
