You know how it works…

This is your chance to banish the things that really get on your nerves into the oblivion that is Room 101 ⛔ ?

Feel free to choose more than one thing, if you're having a bit of a day! ?

Tongue-in-cheek and serious answers equally welcome! ?

Pavement car parking. No need for it. Park in the car park about 20 metres away and bloody walk to your house or build a driveway!

Cities and towns even the smallest ones, now charging a euphemistically named "drainage tax." In the name of helping the environment, they now tax you X dollars per square foot of "non-permeable surfaces" you have on your property. (Concrete or paved driveways, parking lots.) Allegedly this is due to all the extra expense and water waste involved in processing all of this runoff water whereas they say they would rather see it filter back into the soil eventually working its way down to our aquifer, replenishing it. Sounds darn well noble. BUT...

While at the same time, forbidding you via the building codes, to use TRULY environmentally friendly materials that ARE permeable, AND recyclable, such as crushed concrete or crushed granite! ANNNND requiring X amount of square foot of paving as a ratio to the square foot of your building! So obviously it's about finding another source of revenue - literally taxing the rain! - Than about anything at all noble.

Another one - they want you to "go green" and use alternative power sources for electricity. Hey, that's cool. I'm one of the greenest fellas around. BUT....

Again via the building codes, you are not allowed to use any form of wind turbine in the city limits! Not even the ones designed for home use that don't involve towers of any kind! And a solar panel on your roof? Nah. Code requirements make it economically useless. How about one of those really sweet solar roofs? Not so fast, bucko. To get a permit for that is a LONG process and they look at your square footage of roof, pitch, design, THEN decide if you can have one maybe.

None of this affects me personally, since I do not live in a town or a city. But it really grinds my gears for my city dweller friends to have to live with such nonsensical crap.
