I feel like we're entering probably the most dangerous period of this war so far. Definitely feels like we're entering a time when escalation is possible and direct conflict between Russia and NATO states seems possible.

The sabotage to the NordStream pipeline, probably a false flag by Russia, and the sham referendums will have everyone wondering what happens next.

How much does annexing territories change in the grand scheme of things? Putin said attacking here will be treated like an attack on Russia, but there were some explosions in Russia already and in Crimea too.

Probably a desperate attempt to stop losing more ground. It's embarrassing for Russia to be swept away so easily right now, and this is probably an attempt to stop further routing

Ukraine has applied for NATO membership.

Putin has gone full Hitler, hasn't he. What a lunatic.

UN is absolutely broken and pointless at this point, might as well disband it. How is Russia still having a veto right? A complete mockery.

UN is useless, don't remember doing anything useful. The problem is in veto power of 5 countries (with the US and Russia vetoing whatever they do not like and ignoring resolutions they do not like), and without any mechanism of removing the veto power of a country

Putin is basically a one-trick pony, he's like a poker player who aggressively bluffs and his opposition knows it's likely a bluff but doesn't want to take the risk themselves. NATO until now has basically not done anything to curb his aggression but that changed with the reaction to this invasion. NATO adapted their approach but Putin hasn't, he's not some great strategist (in fact it looks like he's terrible judging by reports he was directly working with the military) this is all he has, escalation after escalation until he wins or loses. He will lose if the West keeps backing Ukraine.
