In my view this doesn't (or, can't) end without the absolute end of the Putin era in Russia.

"Peace" talks have started on the Belarus border, Ukrainians asking for Russia to pull out and a ceasefire.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is in Belarus assisting the talks, at Kyiv's request..

"I can confirm that Roman Abramovich was contacted by the Ukrainian side for support in achieving a peaceful resolution, and that he has been trying to help ever since," Abramovich's spokesperson told the PA news agency.

"Considering what is at stake, we would ask for your understanding as to why we have not commented on neither the situation as such nor his involvement.

Absolutely horrific stuff on Twitter showing the Kharkiv bombings. Dozens of civilians killed. I think that shows where these peace talks are heading unfortunately.

It's indiscriminate bombing of civilian population centres. Starting to wonder how anything can be negotiated at this point without Putin going at the least. Ideally, he should be escorted to The Hague in handcuffs to stand trial for war crimes, but then so should many in recent years who have not.

Reports of a massive (27km/17m long) convey of Russian military descending on Kyiv. If that is true I cannot see how the Ukrainians can hold on to their capital. I fear the worst.

It's only a matter of time before Kyiv falls I fear. I hope to god I'm wrong but the numbers just don't add up. Putin has everything in his favour. Without intervention from the west I fear this is the end of the Ukraine, at least for now. In the future who knows, it could be reborn as Putin fails to hold on to it

It is very likely Kyiv will fall sooner or later. They will not be able to hold it for forever and the sheer number of Russian troops still coming towards Kyiv, they are very likely to break through. The biggest question here I think is, what's next after they take Kyiv? I think it's doubtful now that they can take over entire Ukraine, especially the western part of it, since they had much more time to prepare than the other parts, so does Russia just stop there?

Kharkiv is another city that has come under heavy bombardment over the past few days with the government building there taking a direct hit this morning

I'd guess that the objective is to eliminate/exile Zelenskiy and prop up a puppet government.

The Ukrainians will fight for as long as they can even if Kyiv falls.

Awful in Kharkiv, it looks like the strike actually missed the target and hit Infront of the building.

Still in shock and can't get my head around this happening in Europe in 2022.

Russia will be isolated for a very long time after this. Putin has basically condemned this country to a slow and painful death - the world will not forget this for a long time.

That Kharkov airstrike is the kind of thing I was worried about. Just have to hope for a Moscow coup, don't know what else can stop this nonsense invasion.
