Listened to Rishi Sunak on The Andrew Marr Show earlier. Something quite impressive about him, but it definitely helps when the comparative bar is being set by the likes of Johnson and Hancock. Looks like they're definitely going with the one-metre distancing rule but was pretty clear that it won't ultimately be on the scientists but on ministers taking the decisions.

He did also say "we've suppressed the virus" which I think was a pretty absurd claim to make.

Are there still currently numbers indicating that, in Scotland, we should be so far behind England? Because they are easing more and faster and yet the time lag is getting bigger.

We'll have a pretty good idea of how phase 1 affected the R value at the review on Thursday, the last 0.6 to 0.8 number quoted didn't, due to lag in data, take into account the main time that phase 1 has been in operation.

There may also be differences in how both governments view sustainable recovery. It could be that ScotGov is planning on hammering R into the ground if possible, and UK Gov will go as fast as possible so long as R hovers around, at, but not above 1.

The face coverings on transport probably should have been brought in sooner. As far as I can tell, this is still not mandatory in Scotland or Ireland.
From my very limited experience of commuting to work, while masks are being worn by more people there are far too many people not bothering at all about masks or social distancing.

Just out a work meeting and it looks like face coverings will be made compulsory in a Scottish Government announcement within the next 24hrs. Will apply on public transport including school transport, taxis, private hire etc

Guess that gets wrapped up with whatever the phase 2 announcement is tomorrow.

Just on public transport or when in supermarkets too?

A new slogan for Scotland, the public message will now be "stay safe, protect others and save lives"

And here's a summary of the key points as Scotland enters Phase 2 of the lockdown recovery

Nicola Sturgeon all but admitting on STV news that the cautious approach is an attempt to get to a position to open schools normally come August. Beer gardens, no indoor family contact etc is a trade off to try to get to that position. It's as close as she has come to setting any sort of target / deadline.

Makes you wonder if the tourism industry will restart ON 15 July or like today dates will be provided for a phased reopening at that date.

If she just came out and said I am making sacrifices now for the benefit of my kids in August, I would be firmly behind that.

All of my anger towards the response of late has centred around anger at my kids' school education and experience being shattered.
