From the early 90s, he has earned himself and others vast amounts of money by spotting opportunities in tech and placing himself front and centre.

By the time he invested in Tesla everything he was involved with was a success such was his reputation as a tech "fixer".

With Twitter, he's done the opposite, got in too late and paid too much.

He didn't understand what he'd bought. He thought he had another tech company, and so much of his emphasis has been on coding to speed it up and weed out bots.

But actually, it's a publishing company, and it lives or dies on its content. The users aren't customers and aren't employees, yet they're the main asset. He'd do well not to piss them off.

Yup, my own Twitter feed is exclusive to a few specific news sources however that there isn't a better alternative for right now. I did just get approved on Post so need to see how that's doing I guess.

Twitter was, and in many ways still is, very good for some things aside from the politics and culture war bollocks that there isn't a comparable alternative for yet, that I know of.

Musk says Twitter worth less than half of what he bought it for. He says it is currently worth $20 billion, that is $24 billion less than his purchase price. He made the new valuation in a company-wide email he sent to Twitter employees in an internal memo.

Is the dogemark the new Twitter checkmark now?
Because it's related to Dogecoin which he has some involvement with. Manipulating the market again.

Don't know what has happened lately but my daily alerts went from being news outlets and professional people I followed to being full of angry gammons and idiots despite never following or interacting with any of them. And today I've found out that Twitter feeds I followed on news aggregator apps no longer work. I doubt I'll be back on Twitter any time soon.

He's completely ruining it by transforming it into his own personal vanity project and circus which is all about him. You can feel the narcissism.

Elon Musk and his artificial intelligence startup xAI have released "Grok" — an AI chatbot which can supposedly outperform OpenAI's first iteration of ChatGPT in several academic tests.

The motivation behind building Gruk is to create AI tools equipped to assist humanity by empowering research and innovation, Musk and xAI explained in a Nov. 5 X (formerly Twitter) post.

Musk and the xAI team said a "unique and fundamental advantage" possessed by Grok is that it has real-time knowledge of the world via the X platform.

"It will also answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems," Musk and xAI said. "Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don't use it if you hate humor!"

The engine powering Grok — Grok-1 — was evaluated in several academic tests in mathematics and coding, performing better than ChatGPT-3.5 in all tests, according to data shared by xAI.

However, it didn't outperform OpenAI's most advanced version, GPT-4, across any of the tests.

The AI startup noted that Grok will be accessible on X Premium Plus at $16 per month. But for now, it is only offered to a limited number of users in the United States.

Grok still remains a "very early beta product," which should improve rapidly by the week, xAI noted.
