Initial reactions to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II suggest a blend of excitement and skepticism. Many users appreciated the improved setting and worldbuilding but expressed concerns about combat mechanics and bugs. The discussion revolved around whether these aspects have improved compared to the first game, with some citing early previews and gameplay footages as proof of enhancements.12

As the thread progresses, participants share personal experiences with the gameplay. While some players describe enjoyable moments and improved mechanics, others feel frustrated, particularly with combat systems that still appear challenging. The introduction of Hardcore Mode and new DLC features adds to the excitement but also raises questions about balancing gameplay difficulty.34

In the later posts, the focus shifts towards specific gameplay elements, such as fighting mechanics and the upcoming DLC. Users express both hope and doubt about mastering the combat systems, with some identifying issues that still persist from the first game. The roadmap reveals significant content additions that could enhance the overall experience, but unresolved gameplay concerns linger in the air.56

"Warhorse Studios has released patch 1.2.4, which adds Hardcore Mode."

"Someone reassure me that at some point the combat clicks..."

Verdict

While enthusiasm for the sequel is palpable, uncertainty about combat and gameplay balance remains. Many players look forward to upcoming content while hoping for refinements to existing mechanics.

The original game's story ended so abruptly that it almost made me angry.

I'm curious how they'll approach the gameplay this time. In the first game, it made sense that Henry basically couldn't do anything at the start - after all, he was supposedly a blacksmith's somewhat lazy son. But if the sequel continues Henry's story - and they should, considering the aforementioned cliffhanger ending to the first game - then he should start out competent this time. After all, my Henry was cutting up entire teams of soldiers with ease by the end.

Looking forward to this!!

Looking forward to seeing where they take this.

I thought the first game was absolutely superb in terms of setting, worldbuilding, storyline. However I far from finished it as I really didn't like the combat and the game was buggy as hell. If they can improve on the latter two, this could be a great game.

Looks very similar to the original but with slight performance improvements and UI looking much cleaner. I like that they've not revamped it but kept to what worked. Can't wait.

I watched some footage by the YouTuber ESO who played the pre-release. Basically said every facet of the game from the first has improved. It's less janky than the first and a larger more dynamic world.

However, he's not the only one to say that if you didn't like the first you probably won't like the second. I'm giving the 1st a proper go again at the moment and enjoying it much more this time around!

Really loving this game. I've made it to Kuttenberg and I'm still wrapping up all the side quests before progressing the main story. Excellent game, but I accept it wouldn't be for everyone

Warhorse Studios has released patch 1.2.4, which adds Hardcore Mode. When starting a Hardcore playthrough, players must choose three negative perks out of ten.

These are permanently active throughout and include debuffs such as a 20 per cent decrease in Experience gain, less carrying capacity, and more noise while walking around. Somnambulant causes Henry to sleepwalk while Bashful turns off all map assistance. Combine the two, and Warhorse says you can wake up in a random location, and since there's no fast travel or option to see your place on the map, hijinx ensue.

The patch includes other features and improvements, including rebalancing shop prices for herbs, a bald hairstyle for Henry, crash fixes, and more.

Its next patch will add horse racing, with a release window yet to be announced. However, its first paid DLC, Brushes With Death, is scheduled for this Summer (see details below)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Post-Launch Roadmap Reveals Hardcore Mode, Horse Racing and DLC

The upcoming expansion packs cover a range of new story quests, from helping a mysterious artist to becoming a master blacksmith.

In a new trailer outlining its post-launch roadmap, the developer confirmed that the Barber feature, Hardcore Mode, and horse racing would arrive for free this Spring.

In Summer, the first paid DLC, Brushes With Death, arrives and sees the player assisting a "mysterious artist" with an "enigmatic past." Autumn sees the launch of Legacy of the Forge, where Henry must restore Kuttenberg's force and become a master blacksmith. Finally, Mysteria Ecclesia debuts in Winter and focuses on investigating the Sedletz Monastery to contain a "deadly illness."

All of the paid DLC is available in the Expansion Pass and Gold Edition. The latter also provides the Gallant Huntsman's Kit, which includes Artemis' crossbow, Nimroad's hunting coat, and St. Hubert's hunting cap.

Someone reassure me that at some point the combat clicks on this game because outside of all that I'm actually enjoying it so far, even if some of the systems are a bit jarring.

I just about won my first proper battle with some farmer lad who basically had a stick, it wasn't a spectacle.
