One of my least favourite tracks. I'll never understand why F1 skipped all the great tracks in the US, including multiple tracks in Florida, to race in Miami, and not on a street circuit, but in the fecking parking lot of the Dolphins stadium

Lando Norris beat McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to win a chaotic wet-dry Miami Grand Prix sprint race with help from the safety car.

Piastri led from lap one after passing pole-sitter Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes at the first corner of the race but the safety car cost the Australian the race win.

The championship leader pitted one lap before Norris as the track dried out but the safety car was sent out while Norris was pitting for his slick tyres.

That slowed the cars on track and gave Norris enough time to rejoin in the lead.

The safety car was caused by a crash between Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin and Liam Lawson's Racing Bull at Turn Two but that was not the only drama in the race.

Max Verstappen finished fourth on the road behind Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who benefited from an early pit stop for dry-weather slick tyres, but was penalised 10 seconds for an unsafe release from his pit stop, which caused him to collide with Antonelli.

Verstappen, whose front wing was damaged in the collision, was demoted to 17th and last by the penalty.

Lando was so lucky, but then someone was eventually going to get lucky today. Hamilton did the right call, it would be a travesty if they didn't gamble, and it was still his call by the looks of it, not the team.

Also good to see him happy and smiling after the race, he's done well in two sprints so far.

Also:

Today was the first time Max Verstappen has finished a race in any format outside of the points since the 2016.

And it was his team that cost him.

Max Verstappen secured his third F1 pole of the 2025 season in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix, edging out Lando Norris

Max Verstappen delivered a commanding yet gritty performance to snatch pole position for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, reaffirming his champion's credentials in a tightly contested qualifying session. Despite a small moment of drama at Turn 1 on his final Q3 run, the reigning World Champion kept his foot in and still managed to post a 1m26.204s – enough to secure top spot by just 0.061s over a hard-charging Lando Norris.
  • Verstappen back on top: A late lap, despite a Turn 1 error, earned the reigning champ pole for Sunday's race.
  • Rising stars shine: Antonelli took P3, building on his Sprint form, while Piastri and Norris stayed in the hunt.
  • Hamilton shock exit: The seven-time champ was eliminated in Q2 and would start only 12th for Ferrari.

Will we get a clean start from Verstappen and Norris?

Son Of Jack Enthusiast
Norris goes off the track and complains that Verstappen pushed him off.

We have a virtual safety car for Jack Doohan.

Will Max get a penalty for that?

Son Of Jack Enthusiast
That's not a penalty for Max. If he gets a penalty for that, just end the sport.

Possible rain in 20 laps - possible heavy rain!!

Son Of Jack Enthusiast
Apparently if the rain hits it will be "heavy"

They'll probably red flag it!
