The Conte implosion and meltdown we all expected (except maybe Spurs fans) is well and truly happening.

The Italian's time at Tottenham may be coming to an end but he is going down swinging and taking a few others with him.

Conte's incendiary post-match inquest after Spurs cast aside a 3-1 lead to draw at struggling Southampton saw all the frustrations and discontent that have been simmering beneath the surface explode in public.

He delivered a scathing assessment of his players and the culture inside the club - warning that even if he is sacked, unless that changes the years without success will continue for Spurs.

Tottenham players expect it is only a matter of time before Antonio Conte leaves the club.

Conte is out of contract in the summer and many players now think they will be working under a new head coach next season.

The players are willing to accept responsibility for poor performances and results but there is a sense Conte came close to crossing a line by calling them selfish and questioning their commitment to the club on Saturday after the 3-3 draw at Southampton.

Tottenham do not play again for a fortnight and that has given chairman Daniel Levy a short period of time to decide whether he should take any action against Conte.

The situation has been rated as 'pretty much irretrievable'.

Ryan Mason is most likely to be put in temporary charge until the end of the season.

There is a growing sense that it will be difficult for Conte to continue as Tottenham head coach following his outburst after Saturday's 3-3 draw at Southampton.

Sources close to Conte insist he did not speak out on Saturday because he wants Tottenham to sack him. Instead, his comments reflected what he has felt for a long time and he did not intend to attack the players or the board.

No surprise but I wonder if they have someone lined up? Nagelsmann would be the obvious one after being sacked by Bayern Munich.

Tottenham have made contact with Julian Nagelsmann over their managerial vacancy, according to Sky Germany.

Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich, is taking his time over a decision about his future with reports linking him with Real Madrid as well.

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg reports that it is unlikely he will come in to replace Antonio Conte immediately.
