The 2026/27 Premier League season runs from 21 August 2026 to 30 May 2027, opening with Arsenal vs Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.

Defending champions: Arsenal
Promoted clubs: Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Hull City
Relegated clubs: West Ham United, Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers
Total fixtures: 380 matches across 33 weekend rounds + 5 midweek rounds
Transfer window: 15 June 2026 – 31 August 2026
New rule: Ban on gambling sponsors on front of shirts begins this season

Interesting season ahead. Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United are among those clubs all starting fresh with new managers.

A lot of transfers left to go, so I won't be making any predictions. However, we've already seen Man City splash out £116m on Elliott Anderson, and Chelsea top that with the £117m acquisition of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.

Interesting to see, too, if any players come back with a World Cup hangover.

Newcastle v Liverpool is a fitting opening weekend fixture, I expect both to give Kevin Keegan a proper send off.

So many issues at most of the top clubs. Liverpool needs signings everywhere, and they need them to work.

Man United need midfielders and a few defenders.

Chelsea have a new manager and seem to be losing a few players and gaining a few, lot of transition as usual.

Man City have a new manager who I didn't think was great at Chelsea and Rodri out for a while (I he's even there when the season starts).

Arsenal have issues with Saliba, Rice looked wrecked at the World Cup and they may suffer a hangover due to their push for the quadruple last season, like when Liverpool did similar in 2022 they were awful the following year.

Another interesting season.

Arsenal are in good shape, I wouldn't lump them in with the other 4, who all have new (permanent) managers. They've been buying well for a few years and look well stocked in most positions.

Man City will be a dark horse in the same way Slot's Liverpool were the season after Klopp left. Transfers look solid and the team basically will perform as it did under Guardiola until Maresca starts implementing his own ideas - losing Rodri through injury (or transfer) is a massive blow though and Elliott Anderson will need to hit the ground running.

Man United continue to splash out money on new players - Tielemans is a good addition but I think they need strengthened in defence and attack more than midfield.

I'm surprised Liverpool haven't bought anyone - they really need improvements in all areas.

Coventry, Hull , and Ipswich to go start back down?

I am another one expecting a drop-off from Arsenal. Saliba out for months, and who knows what Rice and Saka will be like early season, although the same can be said about all players returning who played in the latter stages of the World Cup

City are the team to beat, in my opinion, even with a new manager.

No clue how Liverpool will be, to be honest, similar with Chelsea. I don't expect Man United to challenge at all.

Chelsea have been hit with a £10m fine and a two-window registration ban for players. Maybe that's why they've been on a big recruitment push recently, knowing this was coming.

I think Man City will do well. Obviously, Pep is a great coach but I think the team could thrive this season if Maresca plays a settled 11 without too many changes each week.

I think Newcastle will be in the relegation mix this season, they will probably be the "big team" that struggles most.
