Having a strong scouting team is one of the best ways to discover new wonderkids on Football Manager 2022.

With that in mind, we've listed at least two options for every role on your recruitment team to help strengthen your backroom in FM22. To read our list of the best coaches, click here.

As long as you have the top five European leagues selected as playable nations, alongside Scotland and Portugal, you'll be able to discover all the staff members listed below.

All of our picks here begin each game save unemployed.

Chief scout

Bojan Krkic

Your chief scout will need to hit the ground running from day one. Bojan Krkic's 20/20 adaptability rating means he'll have no problem making a smooth transition at a new club. His ability to judge both player potential and player ability is also exceptional, while his world knowledge will allow you to scout for Serbian wonderkids with the expectation that he will find good results. Who knows, he could uncover the next Barcelona youth record scorer…

Kevin Cruickshank

A rating of 16/20 is the lowest you can have to be considered in the highest attribute bracket on FM22. Cruickshank is above-average in all the key areas you'd want from a scout. On top of that, he has strong knowledge of Germany and Scotland, which will prove valuable if you assign him to carry out scouting assignments in those countries.

Scouts

Radu Baicu

Baicu's knowledge of European countries that aren't typically scouted often by the world's biggest clubs can give you a competitive advantage. So if you hire him, be sure to send him on scouting missions in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova. That knowledge becomes even more useful if you also choose to include Romania and Bulgaria as playable nations.

Adelio Moro

Moro is a specialist in sourcing the next generation of star players from Italy and should be deployed to do so if you choose to hire him as a scout. His adaptability score is "only" 15/20 but that's still a strong enough rating, even if it does sit on the cusp of being one of those coveted light green attributes (16/20 and higher) that every Football Manager player craves.

Peter Clark

Clark's lowest-rated key attribute is his ability to judge player potential, which clocks in at 15/20. The other two key attributes a good scout needs, adaptability and judging player ability, are both strong here, making him a viable candidate to add to your scouting team. Another bonus with Clark is he's likely to join most teams in the top five divisions, so you can get the skills of someone who wouldn't look out of place at a bigger club on the books of a much smaller one.

Recruitment analysts

Giovanni Zanelli

When it comes to the data side of what you'd want from a recruitment analyst, Zanelli is one of the most skilled options available. His ability to sift through data is among the very best and he would be a solid fit as your head performance analyst. Should you find another recruitment analyst later on down the line, Zanelli is also capable of fulfilling several other roles.

Tobias Hellwig

Hellwig is a solid fallback option as an alternative to Zanelli. His attributes are a fair bit lower than Zanelli's but still strong enough that he can provide a high level of service. Like many analysts on FM22, he is capable of working in either performance or recruitment, which offers you flexibility moving forward.

Director of football

Luis Campos

In real life, having a director of football at your club can make a lot of sense. On FM22, in my opinion, it makes less sense, particularly if you're a manager who likes to run every aspect of your club. If you are looking to go down the director of football route, you could do a lot worse than Campos, who could also be used as a scout.

Zlatko Zahovic

Campos would be the ideal choice but if you can't secure his signature, Zahovic's adaptability rating of 16/20 makes up for his solid but not spectacular attributes elsewhere. He should fit in seamlessly at most clubs. He also has a 16/20 rating for working with youngsters, so would be able to handle negotiations with youth players with a high degree of skill.

Technical director

Piero Ducci

The available pool of technical directors reflects the need for them across world football. That is to say, most clubs can get by without one, so there isn't an endless list of options. With that in mind, Ducci has strong negotiation skills and knows how to judge staff potential well enough that he could be a worthy addition.

Jordi Roura

After spending nearly a decade at Barcelona in several different roles, Roura is another strong choice to become your next technical director as he possesses the key attributes needed to thrive. Aside from his ability to manage staff, Roura has a 20/20 rating for working with youngsters, so you could eventually look to move him to another department to utilise that part of his skill set if you wanted to.

Loan manager

Not many clubs have a loan manager in FM22. That means, there are not going to be a lot of loan managers who are unemployed at the start of a game save. There are, however, computer-generated loan managers that are randomly created at the start of every save.

To locate this list of potential options, click staff — staff search — search by attribute, and then add the following attributes: judging player ability, judging player potential, people management and analysing data. If those filters don't return many options, try removing one of the attributes or lowering the minimum skill level required (eg, lowering the attribute requirement from 18/20 to 16/20, and so on).
