Control Resonant
After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden's former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis.

Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his newfound powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan.

Join Dylan in this sequel to the multi-award-winning CONTROL to explore the expansive zones of a city overrun by the corrupting influences of the chaotic Hiss and invasive micro-organism, the Mold, and other twisted paranormal threats.

On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities, Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he bids to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilt beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear our world apart.

EXPERIENCE HUMANITY ON THE BRINK

Uncover the motivations of characters and entities throughout a ravaged Manhattan. Guide Dylan as he seeks to re-establish his identity, dig deeper into the inner workings of the FBC and reveal the horrors threatening humankind.

Encounter faces old and new on a path fraught with risk but rich in opportunity as the cityscape is reshaped and reality is redefined by a godlike force.

Remedy Entertainment has unveiled "Control Resonant," a sequel to their acclaimed game, Control, during the recent Game Awards. Set to release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and macOS in 2026, the game shifts focus to the protagonist's brother, Dylan, who replaces firearms with dynamic, shape-shifting melee weapons. This new instalment promises to immerse players in an open-world Manhattan, which is encapsulated in a protective bubble amidst an unfolding threat.

The gameplay trailer showcased Dylan wielding the Aberrant, a melee weapon that transforms into various forms, such as a hammer or an ice pick, enhancing the combat experience. Unlike his sibling, Jesse, whose telekinetic abilities defined the original, Dylan's powers seem to include terrain manipulation and agile manoeuvres reminiscent of stylish action games like Devil May Cry.

While the trailer hints at impressive graphics and returns to the Northlight engine, specific advancements in the technology remain unclear. Observations about lighting and shadow effects suggest a focus on atmospheric environments, though some elements appear less optimised. The game's ability to render in real-time on various platforms remains a point of curiosity, especially with the promise of pushing boundaries on high-end PCs and next-gen consoles.

As we await further details, the blend of open-world exploration with Remedy's signature supernatural mechanics could redefine what players expect from the franchise. The anticipation builds as we look forward to more information about gameplay mechanics, enemy designs, and the overall narrative direction of Control Resonant.

Director Mikael Kasurinen recently shared some insights during an interview with MinMaxx. One of the standout revelations is that many of the game's toughest bosses, known as Resonants, are actually optional! This means players can choose whether to take them on or not, adding a layer of flexibility to the gameplay. You can even tackle these bosses out of order, reminiscent of the Mega Man series, where you can claim their powers for your own. How cool is that?

Also, the narrative direction of Control Resonant is shifting gears. Instead of focusing on rescuing Jesse or saving Manhattan, the story revolves around gaining "control over your life." This thematic twist promises to deepen the player's experience and engagement with the game.

Kasurinen also hinted at a significant surprise waiting for players at the midpoint of the game. Plus, the game's world is reportedly much larger than players might expect, although it may take some time to fully explore it.

Control Resonant is set to release on September 24th, despite competition from other titles.
