Cronos: The New Dawn
Cronos: The New Dawn is a pulse-pounding, third-person survival horror game that throws you into the heart of a deadly struggle against overwhelming foes, all while uncovering the mysteries of a twisted time travel story.

Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the line between past and future.

In the past, you will witness a world in the throes of The Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the ravaged wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.

You are a Traveler acting as an agent for the enigmatic Collective, tasked with scouring the wastelands of the future in search of specific time rifts that will transport you back to 1980s-era Poland.

Your mission is to locate key people from the past who perished in the ensuing apocalypse. Using your all-powerful Harvester, you can extract their Essences and have them accompany you into the future.

In a desolate world filled with ever-present danger, your survival hinges on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you'll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal. During battle, quick decisions can mean the difference between life and death.

Tom

Yeah, it definitely gives off Dead Space vibes. I really hope this succeeds where Callisto failed.

Cronos: The New Dawn got a new trailer at Summerfest 2025. The Sci-Fi horror game is coming later this year.

A new gameplay trailer has been released. If you're like me and love those creepy, dark corridors filled with all sorts of horror, this one might be right up your alley.

So, the trailer highlights this crazy mechanic called "Merge." You've got these grotesque creatures known as Orphans that chow down on their fallen buddies to power up.

The trailer opens with the player, known as the Traveller, exploring a seemingly tranquil environment. However, things quickly take a dark turn when an Orphan suddenly springs to life, leading to an intense confrontation. The combat looks engaging and visceral, showcasing a blend of strategy and action.

One of the standout moments from the trailer involves a larger Orphan encountered in an abandoned hardware store. This creature not only shrugs off damage but also has a unique mechanic where it merges with a corpse to become even more formidable. This highlights a crucial gameplay element: players must act quickly to prevent Orphans from merging, adding an extra layer of urgency and strategy to encounters.

What caught my attention the most is how much it feels like Dead Space. The whole idea of merging enemies definitely brings back memories of those freaky Necromorphs that would reanimate corpses.

A new gameplay video from Bloober Team has revealed ten minutes of footage from their upcoming survival horror title, Cronos: The New Dawn. This marks the first substantial look into a game set within a unique blend of a dystopian future and 1980s Poland.

Key features highlighted in the gameplay include:
  • Exploration of a Dark World: The game presents a haunting environment where dilapidated structures coexist with advanced technology, setting the stage for an engaging narrative that intertwines different timelines.
  • Harvesting Essences: Players will encounter individuals from the past who died during an apocalyptic event. Utilising a device known as the Harvester, players can extract these individuals' Essences, enabling them to accompany the Traveller into the future.
  • Combat Mechanics: The game promises action-oriented gameplay, pitting players against nightmarish adversaries that embody the remnants of humanity. Effective use of weapons will be crucial for survival.

Cronos: The New Dawn is set to introduce a new difficulty mode called "Temporal Driver" in early 2026. This mode aims to cater to players seeking a less challenging experience while still enjoying the game's immersive narrative.

The Temporal Driver mode will enhance player health by doubling it, while simultaneously halving the enemies' health. This change is designed to make the gameplay more accessible without compromising the overall experience that Cronos offers. Previously, players could choose between two difficulty settings: the standard mode, Anvil of the Collective, and the more challenging Forged in Fire, which unlocks after completing the game once on standard.

Sometimes in video games, accessibility often becomes a point of discussion, and Bloober Team's recent update for Cronos: The New Dawn exemplifies a thoughtful response to player feedback. While the game garnered praise for its compelling narrative and atmospheric setting - depicting a dystopian version of Poland - it also faced criticism for its high difficulty level, which left many players feeling overwhelmed.

To address this, the latest update introduces the Temporal Diver difficulty, a new easy mode designed for players who wish to immerse themselves in the story without the relentless pressure of challenging combat. This addition is significant as it allows a broader audience to engage with the game's rich storytelling while alleviating the frustration associated with resource scarcity and aggressive enemies.

Furthermore, the update includes a rebranding of existing difficulty levels for clarity and introduces a stylish new skin for The Traveller, enhancing the visual experience of the game. However, it's essential to note that players will need to start a new game to access this mode, which encourages exploration of the narrative from an easier perspective.

The first screenshot for Bloober Team's upcoming title, Cronos: Lazarus, has made its way online!

From the looks of it, Cronos: Lazarus will be a DLC/expansion for Cronos: The New Dawn. At least the screenshot seems very similar to the first game. So, I don't believe we're looking at a sequel.

Cronos: The New Dawn only came out in September 2025. So, there is no way in hell Bloober Team is ready for a sequel. An expansion sounds more possible.

Bloober Team will be present at the Summer Game Fest 2026 event. So, my guess is that this new Cronos game will be officially announced on June 5.

For those who are eagerly anticipating more content from the Cronos series, this could be a significant addition to the universe.
