gameplay delays patches performance feedback

At launch, Cyberpunk 2077 faced a significant backlash due to numerous performance issues and bugs, particularly on last-gen consoles. Many fans expressed disappointment and concerns about delays, with mixed reactions to the gameplay footage revealed prior to release.12

As discussions evolved, players shared their experiences post-launch, revealing both positive and negative aspects of gameplay. While some players appreciated unique storytelling elements and immersive side quests, others were disillusioned by technical issues, leading to requests for refunds and class action lawsuits.34

In response to community feedback, CD Projekt Red committed to fixing the game, launching multiple patches and updates that have gradually improved performance. Many users now express hope for the game's future, especially with the anticipation of upcoming DLC and updates.56

"If nothing else, it should be a nail in the coffin of the idea that CDPR are some uniquely ‘gamer friendly’ company."

Verdict

Cyberpunk 2077's launch was rocky, but ongoing updates indicate a path toward improvement. Many players are optimistic about future content despite initial disappointments.

Looking forward to this but getting a little concerned by the delays.

Nobody talking about how it runs on the base PS4 or Xbox One?
Because it doesn't run, it walks.

Watched lots of videos, read lots of opinions and apparently, it's a shambles and not worth it on base last-gen consoles.

CDPR might lose their "internet darling" status from a few after this.

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 is out, there's been a lot of performance issues and bugs reported across the board. Some, however, are at least worth a laugh.

Not got it yet, decided a while ago to wait for next-gen versions.

But, what I am reading online is shocking, really. This game has been in development for 7 years - they marketed it as a PS4/One title, they developed it as such and said that is what they were doing for the longest time. So how does it get released in this state on XB1/PS4?

IMO it always looked like a next-gen title, and I said when they first showed off stuff (saying it was console...) that it had to be next-gen but that has never been their messaging. Its poor form.

People are all over the place about how this game runs. Some saying it's fine, others saying it's a mess.

Guess the only way to know is to play it myself.

I've about 10 hours done and I'm not sure I'll play anymore tbh (not until some patches come anyway).

Way too many cut scenes in the main missions. There's probably 10 minutes actually playing in some missions that take half an hour and if you get bored of those there is hardly anything else to do other than drive around. Gameplay wise, there is zero innovation here over openworld games that have been around for 10+ years. In fact, it's got less content than most games. The fundamentals are terrible - combat and driving are absolutely horrible janky messes, no satisfaction whatsoever. The city itself is dull, lifeless, far too small especially when you consider there is no verticality - 99% of buildings you can't even go into.

It's below average. I'd give it a 6/10 and that's being generous. Last time I'll pre-order a game.

Seems like lots of people have been sold a broken game and not just something with a few bugs. Really disappointing that such as hyped game has been released in this state - surely delaying if again would have been a better option?

I'll give it a year and buy the fixed GOTY edition with all the DLC.

So disappointed at the state of this game - I requested (and received) a refund from Xbox.

I'll probably purchase it again once the bugs have been fixed and hopefully by that time I will have a Xbox Series S or X.

I might do the same Gemma. I was really looking forward to playing this game.

The whole 'last-gen' thing is a con. This game was originally supposed to be out in April and then September when there were no PS5s or Xbox Series X's. Even their marketing deals had them selling a branded Cyberpunk Xbox One X bundle.

These are not PS5 or Xbox Series X games, they're Xbox One and PS4 games that just happen to run on the new consoles because of backwards compatibility. They're not games that were developed for those consoles.

Anyway, the bugs are starting to get awesome.

It's not an XB1 or PS4 game either.

It is an out and out PC game that had to release on consoles for financial reasons. I think this was fairly evident leading up to release but they should have been upfront about it and avoided all that console marketing, at least until the next gen versions arrive.
