gameplay delays patches performance feedback

At launch, Cyberpunk 2077 faced a significant backlash due to numerous performance issues and bugs, particularly on last-gen consoles. Many fans expressed disappointment and concerns about delays, with mixed reactions to the gameplay footage revealed prior to release.12

As discussions evolved, players shared their experiences post-launch, revealing both positive and negative aspects of gameplay. While some players appreciated unique storytelling elements and immersive side quests, others were disillusioned by technical issues, leading to requests for refunds and class action lawsuits.34

In response to community feedback, CD Projekt Red committed to fixing the game, launching multiple patches and updates that have gradually improved performance. Many users now express hope for the game's future, especially with the anticipation of upcoming DLC and updates.56

"If nothing else, it should be a nail in the coffin of the idea that CDPR are some uniquely ‘gamer friendly’ company."

Verdict

Cyberpunk 2077's launch was rocky, but ongoing updates indicate a path toward improvement. Many players are optimistic about future content despite initial disappointments.

Looking forward to this but getting a little concerned by the delays.

Phantom Liberty is good so far, but not great, more like more of the same. Idris Elba makes it much better. The world still feels wrong, the crowd is still bad, and you can still see more instances of the same character, with the same animation, sometimes even with the same skin in the same place. Sometimes they even walk past each other.

Still a good game but a missed opportunity of making a classic.

Update 2.1 was released on December 5th. It brings the following updates...

Travel by NCART metro
Travel around Night City with ease thanks to Night City Area Rapid Transport metro services. Stop worrying about the traffic and enjoy the view thanks to the 5 metro lines stopping on a total of 19 stations spread throughout the city. Service available only after V receives the text message from NCART.

Radio on the go
This one is for all of the travelling audiophiles in our community! We've added a radioport that allows V to listen to the radio while exploring Night City on foot or riding the metro. It comes with adjustable volume and it will automatically turn off when game audio is crucial — for example during conversations.

Hang out with Romance Characters
Spend some quality time with your special someone; invite your lover to your apartment to hangout and enjoy each other's company.

Improved boss fights
We've introduced a number of improvements to boss fights, most notably to the one with Adam Smasher. It is now more iconic, as Smasher will better adapt to the tactics used by players, will be much more relentless and will use Sandevistan — much like he was in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Attention all petrolhe… <ekhm> CHOOH2-heads!
 • We've got a lot of new stuff for all motoring enthusiasts out there!
 • New vehicles, including new motorbikes and a real classic: a cabriolet version of Porsche 911!
 • Replayable car races, available after the race with Claire is finished.
 • More immersive motorbike riding — including ability to throw knives while riding, leaning, doing wheelies and even flips!
 • New car chases — if you mess with the gangs while doing gigs, they might hunt you down later!
 • Newly opened highway.
Making Cyberpunk even more accessible
We've moved all of the existing accessibility options and added a handful more to a new Accessibility tab in game settings. Would you like a simplified UI? Or maybe larger fonts? We've got you covered! You can read more about our accessibility features here:

Radio on the go

FINALLY. I had gotten used to running my own Cyberpunk playlist in the background while on foot.

Fair dues to them. I mean it's not a No Man's Sky underdog situation but they have put in the effort and money to make up for the poor launch. Cyberpunk 2077 is right now while not necessarily the best open world RPG out there (currently replaying Skyrim for that thanks) a seriously good member of that hall of fame. A pity they had to piss all over themselves on launch and take 2 years to get here.

CD Projekt RED rolled out Cyberpunk 2077's Patch 2.11 update and its accompanying notes this week. Some of the big headliners include fixes to make sure melee finishers are working properly. Now, you should be able to viscerally finish off your foes up close and personal without the animations glitching. Another fix includes squashing a bug that was unequipping health items from quick access slots when consumables were used. For the fans of Rayfield vehicles, there's now an option to get a "CrystalCoat feature" which lets you change the paint color of the cars. You can see the full patch notes just below for more details on what was adjusted.
Gameplay
• Melee Finishers will now work properly.
 • Fixed an issue where health items could become unequipped from the quick access slot after using consumables.
 • It will now be possible to properly switch Z and W keybinds for AZERTY keyboards.
 • When using the Classic control scheme, performing dashes will no longer result in crouching.
 • Fixed an issue where it was still required to use the F key (default) to interact even if bound to a different key.
 • Binding the right mouse button to an action different than aiming will no longer result in aiming and the new action occurring simultaneously.
 • Axolotl cyberware will now also reduce cooldown when neutralizing an enemy non-lethally.
 • The Iconic Contagion quick hack will now properly cause an explosion when combined with the Overheat quick hack.
 • Added Psalm 11:6 and Buzzsaw crafting specs for players who completed the required activities to acquire them but they didn't drop.
 • Fixed an issue preventing players from upgrading items to Tier 5++ on Xbox.
 • Skeleton cyberware will no longer get downgraded after acquiring level 3 of the License to Chrome perk.
 • Skill Shards for skills that are already maxed out will no longer drop.
 • The RAM cost for the Cyberpsychosis quick hack will now properly decrease after applying Cyberware Malfunction or an EMP effect.
 • Killing NPCs who are drunk or using a braindance will now properly trigger the police system.
 • Fixed an issue where RAM Recoup cyberware was restoring less RAM than indicated by its description.
 • Fixed an issue where fists would not have a chance to apply Bleeding after reaching level 20 in the Solo skill.
 • Fixed the description for Biomonitor cyberware so it properly states that it heals you when health drops below 50% rather than 35%.
 • It will now be possible to activate Sandevistan cyberware during holocalls if in combat.
 • Fixed an issue where it was possible to get killed by a quickhack while Berserk is active, despite its feature ensuring that health cannot drop below 25%.
 • Cyberware Capacity will now be capped at 450. Cyberware exceeding the limit will be unequipped.
 • Fixed an issue that could cause loot to float in the air as well as reappear in the same spot after picking it up.
Quests & Open World
• Adjusted car chases so that they're not too frequent and don't overlap.
 • Fixed an issue where vehicles purchased on the Autofixer website weren't added to the owned vehicles list even though money was spent.
 • Made it possible to obtain the BFC 9000 Iconic weapon for players who missed the crashed AV in Rancho Coronado.
 • Fixed an issue where the animation of inspecting the NCART City Pass could be triggered inside an elevator, causing V to fall through it.
 • Fixed an issue where the message from NCART Customer Support that unlocks the metro wouldn't arrive, even if the requirements were met.
 • Fixed some instances where Gigs could remain stuck as incomplete in the Journal without any objectives.
 • A Day In The Life - Fixed an issue where Darrell Zhou would instantly die after approaching the quest marker and speaking to him. Please note that the fix is not retroactive, meaning that you need to load a save before speaking to Darrell to be able to complete the quest.
 • Belly of the Beast - Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to exit the Basilisk after entering the tunnel.
 • Cyberpsycho Sighting: On Deaf Ears - Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to collect the information required to progress because the shard wasn't present in the area.
 • Don't Lose Your Mind - Fixed an issue where, after choosing to merge the Delamains, it wasn't possible to progress past the "Approach the car" objective because the cab didn't spawn.
 • Down on the Street - Fixed an issue where Takemura wasn't present when arriving at Wakako's pachinko parlor.
 • Gig: Bring Me the Head of Gustavo Orta - Fixed an issue where Gustavo would immediately become hostile after entering his office.
 • Gig: Bring Me the Head of Gustavo Orta - Fixed an issue where the guards would immediately attack the player after picking the peaceful Street Kid dialogue option.
 • I Really Want to Stay at Your House - Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to sleep in V's apartment bed while the quest was active.
 • Psycho Killer - Improved the reward for neutralizing all Cyberpsychos. Players who already claimed the reward can visit Regina and collect the new reward from the weapon crate.
 • Reported Crime: Dredged Up - Fixed an issue where the trail that must be scanned to progress could be missing.
 • Spellbound - Fixed an issue when the discounted price for the Spellbook could be higher than the full price.
Phantom Liberty-specific
• Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos - Fixed an issue where there was no objective in the Journal entry because the objective to meet Reed at the abandoned hotel wouldn't appear.
 • Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos - Fixed an issue where there were no dialogue options that would progress the quest when talking to Yoko.
 • Firestarter - Fixed an issue where some weapons could become job items after being retrieved from the locker.
 • Hi Ho Silver Lining - Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to talk to Mr. Hands in the Heavy Hearts club because he wasn't interactable or did not spawn for players who experienced this issue on 2.1.
 • Just Another Story - Fixed an issue where Vehicle Contracts weren't spawning in some cases.
 • Things Done Changed - Fixed an issue where the screen could go black after calling the nurse for players who experienced this issue on 2.1.
 • Added an end credits message from Reed for endings other than The Tower.
 • Removed the possibility of installing attachments on the Catahoula Iconic pistol.
 • Fixed an issue where it was possible to activate the Sensory Protocol perk when it was on cooldown.
 • Fixed an issue where it was possible to activate Synaptic Accelerator cyberware during its cooldown.
 • It will now be required to have a cyberdeck installed to benefit from Cogito Lattice cyberware.
 • Fixed an issue where the buff after exploding an enemy with the Detonate Grenade quickhack didn't match the description.
UI
• Added a Radioport category in Settings → Gameplay to customize Radioport behavior. Enable "Sync to Vehicle Radio" to keep the music playing after exiting a vehicle. With "Cycle Stations with Button Press", effortlessly switch between radio stations by simply pressing the Radioport button without the need to open the Radio menu. Enable "Save Current Station" to have the Radioport resume playing the radio station upon loading a saved game.
 • The data window that appears when scanning will no longer default to the "Hacking" tab rather than "Data". Instead, it will now remember which tab was open last.
 • Fixed an issue preventing players from changing cyberware at Ripperdocs and seeing the Cyberware Capacity bar.
 • Added a pop-up message for when it's not possible to activate Sandevistan during holocalls.
 • Like the non-Iconic variants, Iconic quick hacks will no longer have the duration displayed in their descriptions.
 • Made small improvements to the appearance of Net sites.
Visual
• Neon-lit rims for the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X will now light up properly.
 • Fixed shadows appearing on V's torso when wearing tank tops.
 • Fixed dark shadows appearing on V's hands when holding some weapons with Ray Tracing enabled.
 • The Devil and Judgment tarot cards will now be properly displayed on the end-game reward screen.
Vehicles
• Tire track marks will now match the actual contact patch of the tire.
 • Adjusted the suspension movement of some traffic vehicles to improve it visually.
 • Motorcycle suspension has been improved to reduce visual clipping into roads and curbs. Braking is also improved. Some vehicles, including cars and trucks, will now better handle landing from big jumps.
 • Brake Torque Vectoring has been added to the Drive Model simulation. This change effectively reduces understeer on vehicles that previously used to suffer from it excessively when hard braking while turning (most noticeable on FWD and rear/mid-engined vehicles).
 • Retuned or improved tuning in various vehicles. This includes: Mizutani Hozuki MH1, MH2 and "Hoseki", Villefort Deleon V400, V410 Coupe and "Vindicator", Thorton Colby CST40, Mahir Supron FS3-T, Chevillon Centurion 1000, Quadra Type 66 "Hoon", and more.
PC-specific
• Added a Hybrid CPU Utilization setting, which can be found under Gameplay → Performance. It can be set either to "Auto" (lets the operating system automatically decide how to distribute threads among the cores) or "Prioritize P-Cores" (prioritizes performance cores). It is set to "Auto" by default.
 • Implemented a fix that improves performance, especially on AMD RX Vega GPUs.
Misc
• Added the CrystalCoat feature which allows you to change vehicle paint color. Because this technology was developed exclusively by Rayfield, it is currently only available for Rayfield vehicles you own.
 • Controller Inner Dead Zone has been changed to new default values for players who didn't change them, as keeping the old default values could result in stick drift.
 • Fixed an issue where the door in the Megabuilding H10 apartment wouldn't automatically close in some cases.
REDmod
• Updated the address list for modders.

Started this, finally. I love the aesthetic of the world and characters. The driving (with my first car) is weighty and feels good. The little combat I've tried so far feels decent.

But the menus and inventories, a serious visual mess. I hate navigating them.

I've finally gone back to this for a fresh playthrough in the hopes that I enjoy it enough to get Phantom Liberty next time it drops in price. I went with male nomad and about to do the heist mission so still very early on. The problem is I'm finding female V such a better voice actor that i feel like starting over again as her. I already cleared the game once as female V streetkid romancing Judy so I wanted to try it different this time but I'm not feeling it.

Also trying to decide on a build and I keep coming back to Samurai on a motorbike.... same as my female V build, I'm so bad at trying new things.

Saying that, the 2.0 and greater update has been brilliant so far, lot of little and big improvements.

Been playing this a lot over the holidays.

I'm absolutely loving my time in Night City. Just finishing up the Peralez missions before heading to Dog Town. The only big side quests I have left are River's. Judy, Panam, Kerry and Johnny quests are all completed, something like level 37 and Street cred 40, maxed out chrome and happy with my current setup.

I want to try the DLC next.

I really enjoyed the Peralez story and would have eaten up another few hours of it but in a way, the short burst of it really worked. It was everything that I wanted from the Cyberpunk world. Also did you spot Mr Blue Eyes watching you at the end of the quest?

On the flip side, whilst the mission involving River is actually decent, I hated him as a character and felt they really missed the target on that one

In a recent interview with IGN, Keanu Reeves expressed his enthusiasm for reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2. While promoting his film Good Fortune, he stated, "Absolutely. I'd love to play Johnny Silverhand again." This raises exciting possibilities for fans of both the actor and the franchise.

Details about Cyberpunk 2, currently referred to as Project Orion, remain sparse, but we know it will introduce a new city described by series creator Mike Pondsmith as "Chicago gone wrong." With around 80 people working on the game's pre-production, anticipation is building.

However, the question of Silverhand's role in the sequel is complex. The character's arc concluded in Cyberpunk 2077, leaving some wondering how he could fit into the new narrative. Depending on which ending CD Projekt Red chooses to canonise, the return of Reeves as Silverhand may not be guaranteed.

Should Reeves not return, it would indeed be a significant loss for fans who cherished his memorable appearances, including the iconic "you're breathtaking" moment at E3. Yet, CD Projekt Red has a history of collaborating with high-profile actors, such as Idris Elba in Phantom Liberty and Charles Dance in The Witcher 3. If they decide to cast someone new, the possibilities are intriguing, with names like Sean Bean and Arnold Schwarzenegger floating around.

For now, fans can only wait and see how CD Projekt Red navigates the narrative and casting challenges ahead.

Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a significant update with the release of patch 2.31, which introduces crucial changes to the autodrive feature. This update addresses previous issues where the Autodrive struggled with sudden stops and erratic behaviour, allowing for smoother and more reliable navigation through Night City.

Key improvements include:
 • The vehicle now drives smoothly and can overtake other vehicles without stopping at traffic lights.
 • An upgrade to Free Roam mode enhances traffic navigation and adherence to city rules.
 • Fixes have been made for quests related to the new vehicles introduced in patch 2.3, including adjustments to character interactions in photo mode.
While the update aims to enhance the driving experience, there are concerns about how this will impact traffic dynamics, particularly with vehicles ignoring traffic signals. Players may need to brace for increased chaos on the roads, as the game's AI adjusts to these new driving behaviours.

As always, those using mods should be cautious post-update, as patches can disrupt existing load orders.

Vehicles
 • Updated AutoDrive. When driving to a selected point, the vehicle now drives smoothly, overtakes blocking vehicles, and no longer stops at traffic lights. Free Roam mode has also been upgraded to follow traffic rules and navigate the city more reliably.
 • Fixed an issue where Johnny always spawned in the passenger seat when using the Delamain Cab service.
 • Fixed an issue where applying CrystalCoat to the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru caused its wheels to flash in different colours.
Photo Mode
 • Most of the new poses introduced in Update 2.3 now work with any gender.
 • Disabled NPC collision, which will make it easier to position NPCs on top of other objects with collision (e.g. on car hoods).
 • Fixed an issue where some of the poses didn't work for Royce.
Quests & Open World
 • Freedom - Fixed the journal entry that appears when the player chooses not to steal the Rayfield Caliburn "Mordred."
 • Motorbreath - Fixed an issue where, after V fails to pursue and stop Semimaru and receives a text from River saying he'll contact V soon, the follow-up message never arrives.
 • Motorbreath - Fixed an issue where the Yaiba Semimaru could flip over during the chase, preventing the player from entering it.
 • Motorbreath - It's no longer possible to trigger the quest if River died during The Hunt.
 • Motorbreath - Players can now acquire the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru through AUTOFIXER even if they failed The Hunt, which normally unlocks the side quest where the vehicle is obtained.
 • Nitro (Youth Energy) - Fixed a game crash that could occur in certain circumstances after leaving the Yaiba showroom event.
 • Nitro (Youth Energy) - Fixed an issue where the proxy interface UI in the Yaiba showroom is cut off when the "Larger HUD Elements" setting is enabled.
Miscellaneous
 • Fixed several localisation and lip-sync issues in various languages.
 • Added a toggle to disable vignette. It can be found in Settings → Graphics → Basic.
 • Fixed an issue on PC and Mac where Ray-Traced Reflections might not display correctly when enabled under certain conditions.
 • Fixed several issues with displaying text messages from Delamain.
 • Various fixes for fluff vendors.
PC-specific
 • Fixed an issue where NVIDIA Reflex could be disabled while DLSS Frame Generation was enabled, causing the screen to turn pink.
 • Fixed an issue where Path Tracing didn't activate properly in certain scenarios.
Mac-specific
 • Fixed an issue where changing graphics presets on Mac set Screen Space Reflections to a higher setting compared to the equivalent presets on PC.
 • Fixed an issue causing a permanent white screen when Frame Generation is enabled while entering the braindance in The Information.
 • Selecting "Defaults" in Video Settings no longer turns HDR Mode off.
 • Fixed the inverted behaviour of the "Mute Game in Background" toggle in Settings.
 • Removed the outdated "(Requires Game Restart)" disclaimer from the mouseover description of the "Disable Spatial Audio" setting.
 • Fixed an issue on the App Store version that caused the game to become stuck on the "Press Space to continue" breaching screen.
 • Various stability and performance optimisations.
